Intermediate final now off also

Knocknacarry

Intermediate turning into a farce if what I'm hearing is true. Cushendun expected to play Ulster quarter final the week before the Antrim Intermediate Final

marty34

Gerard Walsh going well in the Shinty in Cork.

Don't see how it's a farce, certainly not ideal, but what can ye do?? Ulster fixtures are put out then the various counties fall in behind that and set up their own championships. We can fire many a thing at the county board, but even they can't be held responsible for the weather.

Don't think it's really fair to ask them to play midweek they should get to celebrate their championship win at a weekend like every other side

I agree they can't do much about the weather but surely this could have been organised better, why was the hurling finals after the football finals when the football ulster didn't start for another 3 weeks after their finals, where as intermediate winners were expected to play Ulster the week after their final?  Surely it would make more sense for the hurling to played before the football to leave room for a refixed game if a scenario such as this would occur.

If i was Cushendun id be conceding ulster. The goal is Antrim, Playing lavey could negativly impact their chances should the carey game be played the following week.

Awful position to be put in and could've easily been avoided. Similar amount of teams in junior this year with a different format.

It's aswell you're not Cushendun then....
Don't agree. A competitive match will stand to cushendun, a run out in heavy conditions and all the benefits that brings, the only fear is an injury, but that can happen in training. Be a difficult match up to Lavey, seriously don't like the Derry set up but if it's within the rules, so be it; if conditions allow, it will be a good game, be some craic if it's a draw!!!

Carey game could be put on a real back burner, Boxing Days free.....
Regardless, Cushendun will win by 7 whenever they play Carey

NorthAntrimSaff

Cushenduns main goal at the start of the year is an antrim intermediate championship

Cushendall or dunloy would not play Slaughneil the week before a county final

NAG1

Weather forecast is giving Ballycastle half a chance at being playable for the weekend.

Nonsense of course they would, do you think cushendall or Dunloy would concede an Ulster championship and a chance at an all Ireland just because they think it would be poor preparation going into an Antrim final?

NorthAntrimSaff

I dont think they would be put in that position anyway. Plus Cushendun haven't won intermediate (in a long time possibly ever?)

So that was probably a bad comparison

They definitely won it early 90s and fairly sure again in the Noughties.

what way does it work for a team to get relegated into intermediate? do the 2 bottom teams need to play off or is there another system for managing who goes down?
