My understanding is there is no badness in it, just normal diesel with dye. The problem is its easily detectable for customs whereas the kero is still white. Red diesel very expensive now too.

Arguably your better running your motor on red than white!

At least then you'd know for sure its not some dodgy washed stuff making whoever own the pump a few quid more.

I would have used it many moons ago in my student years and money was tight, could have taken my pick of garages i could have filled up at. The problem now would be getting it somewhere accessible, there was a huge clampdown on places selling it a few years back wasn't there?

I thinking you use a reputable garage for servicing (with a newish car) it will be pointed out ?

Apparently not, I'm told. Kero + Veg Oil = Diesel

Did your friend take Chemistry all the way to uni or leave it at A Level?

Triglycerides, esters and hydrocarbons are all different things.

Would be great if you could explain what that means. Thanks

Red diesel is rare now as the Government have clamped down on the usage. Contractors on site now have to run their plant and machinery on white diesel and they then get subsidised for it when they submit their valuations. Agriculture, horticulture, fish farming, and forestry are the only industries left that can use red. It's insane that an excavator on a site has to use white diesel along with any other plant used...Mental

Not that rare lol.

Absolutely mental making diggers etc run on white, nothing but greed from the wankers in power. For all that though if you're getting the VAT back there isn't even that huge of a difference in white and red these days!
