Horrible Neigbours

Would ye whist

Just wanted to throw this out there to make myself feel better insofar as we are not the only ones with horrible neighbours.

We live out in the country with a neighbour beside us with a shared road spay. Recently our son started dropping his kids to us as he is back in an office and a school education authority bus picks the kids aged 9 & 7 from the road spay. Yesterday my son got a call from the bus driver to say he can no longer pick the kids up as the neighbours have complained about the bus pulling onto the spay which they fear will damage the tarmac, tarmac we paid for and did not ask them for a contribution as you know what it was an extra few hundred quid to do their part also. The bus driver said as he cannot use the spay he feels it is unsafe and now the kids can't get the bus.

This goes back in my opinion to the fact during that during the summer we were routinely being woken up after midnight by his dog being let out to pee and no one supervising said dog. I approached him (in a civil manner) the next day and asked was their anything he could do to control the dog at that time of night, he reacted by accusing me of threatening him (I did not) and then by abusing me calling me a t*at etc.

I really cannot understand the mentality of some people and I honestly do not want to get into a tit for tat with them, however, I really cannot stand the sight of them now.

Anyone else with joyous neighbours?

Who owns the bit of road?
Get your MLA involved, Declan Kearney? Get as many as you can actually.
Are the children registered to your house or your sons? Problem is if it's your sons that's where they should technically be lifted and the driver may have only been doing it from your house as a favour.

Start recording the dog. Get a ring camera.
You have my full sympathy.

Edit how far away does your son live? There is something the education authority only needing to drop children off within 1 mile of home but someone else might be able to confirm

I live in the country and I've never heard of a road spay or splay.

If building a new house for example. You need sight lines (splays), on both sides, to come out of house.

So sometimes you need to go to neighbours (if they own the hedge)  and ask them to sign a legal document so and that is needed to build.

Basically you need then to take the hedge out - it's for safety as you come out of your driveway.

I've heard 'neighbours' asking for £10k to sign it off. Handy money but not a great start with your neighbours.  ::)

Sorry 'splay' is correct, fast typing

Technically they own their half, albeit we tried to be nice and not leave the front half done.

Kids live about quarter of a mile up the road and the bus driver and his bosses have no issue at all with calling to our house to get the kids, only two horrible people have an issue with it.

Regards the dog as much as he abused me the dog has not been out past 10pm since, however any disruption from it now on I will take issue. I do not want to have a bad relationship with my neighbours, I was brought up to be nice to people and not go looking for trouble.

I would play the long game with them now, when you leave your bins down leave them on this bit of the layby, drive over it at every opportunity. If its tarmac throw a bit of diesel over it now and again, will soften it and begin to break down. Fck them, they started it.

Never heard of splays before. You learn something new every day!

But yeah, bad neighbours are a curse as there's no escape from it given that it's your home.

I'm encountered a relatively minor issue at my place in NY recently.

A few weeks back, I caught some arsehole (white, middle-aged, loudmouth New Yorker type) throwing a bag of dog shit into one of our rubbish bins. Just a few days before that I'd had to hose them out as f**kers (maybe him) had been throwing bags of shit in now and again for months. The bag would inevitably get damaged by other stuff going in on top, and there'd be an almighty stink every time you opened the bin.

So I was not too happy about the situation and ripped into this lad out on the street.

This week, on two consecutive nights, I've found bags of dogshit lying under the car, which is parked in our driveway in front of the house. I'm wondering if it's the same lad as it appears to be deliberate targeting. I'd put up a ring camera where the bins are to discourage this behaviour, so maybe he's trying to sneakily stick it to me for roaring at him.

It's a minor issue in the grand scheme of things and not something I'm planning to escalate, at least for now, assuming he's got his little bit of satisfaction and is done with it.

I have seen discussions on Reddit about this whole issue though, and it boggles my mind how many people think it's just fine to throw your bags of dog shit into someone else's rubbish.

Take your bag of shit home with you, or get rid of the bloody dog!

If you ever apply for planning permission for a house you will quickly become an expert. Ive listened to many a pub bore discuss them at length.

I get that, I've dogs and their poop is bagged and placed in my bin if I'm walking from the house, if he is a neighbour then he couldn't be too far from his own bin ffs! Was it when the bins were being lifted the next morning or just random days?

I've a neighbour who tortures the workmen if they happened to be doing work in people houses near his, he's from Pakistan, struggles to actually pay the price agreed and complains about the price of things, its a cultural thing and I get that but he takes me to the fair at times!!

We'd a plumber in last night finishing off some work, I thought he was heading home but mentioned that he was going next door to look at his washing machine, I told him to get in the van and go home lol! He nabbed the painter we use one year and they agreed on a price and done the work, the wife headed off to get the money and came back £60 short, Davy sat on the sofa started to roll a cig and said he wasn't leaving till he paid! Found the money very quickly..

Not a bad neighbour just a f**king nuisance

Not sure of that term either but it's probably known to me as a "Shared access". As someone stated they're a pure bollox and lenders tend not to hand out the money when there is a shared access to a property that you need a mortgage on for that reason. If it's something else please enlighten me.
As for neighbours it's difficult these days as the whole dynamics have changed...my era we all knew each other and we all said hello and you knew every hoor in every house for miles and sure the door was never locked. Now you can live in a development and not know who lives 2 doors down (I can vouch for that), younger generation tend to keep themsleves to themselves and not mix too much. Probably explains why half of them are weirdo's and freaks.
