It'll be judged on whether soccer supporters boycott the team and FAI, not phone-ins to radio. But i'd say when Euro 28 comes around, Ireland is hosting, this will be forgotten about and the Irish bandwagon will be in full-flow behind the boys. Most of the Irish rugby team that toured apartheid South Africa in 1981 were national heroes a few months later when Ireland beat England to win the Triple Crown in 1982 for 1st time in 30 years. A week is a long time in politics, a month is a long time in sports.

I do wish the FAI had had the minerals to stand up to UEFA, and perhaps created a ripple effect. Lest we forget when genocide was being perpetrated in Kosovo in 1999, the Irish Government (and in particular Bertie) refused to grant Visas to the Yugoslavia team, and Jim McDaid actually managed to get support from other European ministers to back the Irish position. Mick McCarthy even noted there was little appetite amongst the players given what was unfolding.

I'm not saying its okay. Already said many pages back, we should not be playing this game. I just know the Irish public will not boycott the Irish team, RTE and radio will cover future games as if nothing happened. We'll boycott Eurovision, soccer a bridge too far.

Céadach O'Neill trained with OurWeeCountry today. Safe to say he hasn't a notion of switching to the FAI team.  Having never played senior for Arsenal, he should not be picked either, so north likely better for his career prospects.

It's grand to preach but how many here paying mortgages would give up their livelihoods to make a stand?

I am against playing the game but the FAI have a duty to their staff who will be gone if funds are gone.

Reports on Siptu members at rte wanted a boycott. Rte are obliged to show it, but are scaling back. So will staff resign over it?

The latest Israel FA outburst should help us. But it's going ahead.
