Fairly sure Tiarnan Moore was asked previously, was maybe even briefly part of the panel, but also couldn't commit.
That said - no reason why he couldn't be asked again, likewise with McAteer etc.

Do no harm to have a few Intermediate players on a development squad of some kind at a minimum. Expose them to some higher level training/S&C for a year or two and see how it goes. If it gains you even one player it'd be worth it.

I agree with the suggestion that Tiernan Moore should also be under consideration for a place in the Derry Senior panel. Shane McGuigan is the only current Derry player who features in  this years Senior Championship top five scorers. Cahir McMonagle, Alex Doherty, Oisin Doherty and Tiarnan Moore are the others.

 Of course, both regular Senior County men, Niall Loughlin and Lachlan Murray, continue to feature prominently in the Intermediate Championship top scoring stakes.

Pretty sure Tiarnan Moore was asked or was briefly part of a squad in the last couple of years and didnt want to commit. Same boat as McMonagle, Conor McAteer, Callum McGrogan, Jack Doherty.

Lachlan Murray hasnt played any club championship yet.

I do think we need to strengthen the panel even if it means leaving the door open for some of those boys aswell as people like Donnacha Gilmore.

Apparently last year Cahir McMonagle would not commit himself to the Senior panel as he wanted to play soccer for a year.Also, for whatever reason, Oisin Doherty would not commit to the U20 county team.  If both of them would be available for the incoming season,they, along with a fully fit Danny McDermott,Donncha Gilmore, Martin Bradley and Ryan McNicholl of Glenullin are surely worthy of serious consideration. Past experience  shows that unfortunately from a Derry perspective (and most other counties have the same problem),there are four or five talented individuals who just do not want to commit to the county cause which is their right to do so. From a purely selfish county point of view that is sad  but it is their lives to make their personal choices.

Donnacha Gilmore I think could be good squad player and I think Martin Bradley has done enough to justify a place around it.

I'm unsure about Mc Dermott or Mc Nicholl, both Mc Dermotts are series athletes but I don't think thats enough to get you on a County team. Seem very injury prone also.
We'll see how Mc Nicholl goes on Wednesday, he had good spells against Loup but there needs to be more than that. Tiarnan Moore alot more impressive that him against stronger opposition.

Are you suggesting that someone who chose not to commit because they wanted to play soccer should be offered another opportunity? Does that bring Jack Doherty and Conor Mc Ateer into the mix?

We saw Mc Monagle against Magherafelt do we think he is county standard? Allow for the fact that a lad who has yet to play senior Inter county football was marking him?

McMonagle had a poor enough day out on Sunday, especially with the wind on his back in the second half and still managed 1-07. The Magherafelt defence gave him more respect than you do that's for sure.
He absolutely should be in the panel. Would love to see T Moore and O Doherty in there too

Absolutely should be in the panel? He scored a two pointer from play in 60mins. He didn't score in first half and had 1 shot. Dispossessed 3 times.

The county is full of good players which is exactly what Mc Monagle is. If you are good does that make you county standard?


Bar the inevitable always going sideways I thought Ben Mc Carron looked more like county player. Maybe bit easy knocked off the ball but definitely physically there.

Thats not true. He wasn't included in the panel by the new management team, simple as that.

Sorry to hear that last year's management did not select Cahir McMonagle. Obviously my "soccer" information was wrong Hopefully, he will be picked for 2027 as Derry urgently require talented players who can win the ball,score goals and points from play, especially  including two pointers. Cahir fits the bill on all these headings.The ability to score two pointers is a must in the modern game.

I think there are no repeat pairings until quarter-final (not 100% on this) but Glen, Bridge, M'felt and whoever wins from Ballinderry/Glenullin can't play each other in quarter finals. In the round three draw the teams that won their first game and lost the second are on one side (Bellaghy, Loup, B'Derry/Glenullin, Steelstown) the rest (lost first, won second) on the other. No repeat pairings here I believe.
