Don't think anyone could read into that yesterday evening, Faughanvale short players from last year when they were already fodder then, never mind now. Their manager left earlier in the year and then their new manager threatened to walk last week when the he figured out the players didn't want to stay in senior championship football. Thats the context of this game. Laveys next game will be a better guide to where they are at.

Quote from: Stickman on August 28, 2026, 10:02:57 AMMore of a challenge game than a championship game last night. Lavey will be about come the end of the championship but at what point do they switch the keeper, the only real weak spot last night
Regan should be back before next day out

Imagine any player saying we don't want to be in Senior Championship.

Alot to be said for the weaker clubs in Senior football who fight tooth and nail every year to stay there in the hope they will eventually get closer to the top, before you even dream of winning it.

What sort of mentality does that give youth in any club when you want to go down rather than up.

Ryan O

Kilrea had a good go at Newbridge this evening. Exciting enough game in Owenbeg.

Newbridge very clinical up front and kicked few 2 point frees that were the difference in the end.

Couple maybe dubious enough ones in the second half that were a wee bit soft for championship football but I suppose a bit of experience can get you the rub on these things.

Didn't expect them to be at their best but they've a bit of work to do, perhaps working off a different timeframe than the majority. Wouldn't want to be peaking too early.

Hoof Hearted

Aye they lost this game last year and ended up in an ulster semi so they're playing the long game id imagine.
Its what champions do.

Was he not back up for county this year? Strange that he's not starting.

Bit of an injury

Newbridge come up with key ball and scores, just things teams of that caliber do. Kilrea done well enough defensively in patches but Newbridge would be happy enough with them wild 2s kielt and others were taking on

How's the pitch holding up jb77? Be interesting to see how it is on Sunday evening.

you think they be happy enough?
You don't think they would be worried that a team or higher quality kick 2 or 3 of them an that changes everything?
I've a feeling Brady and Hetherington would be highlighting the number of shots that got off from edge of 2 point arc.

Hard to even remember how well they were contested but aye they definitely got them away alright. Newbridge were able to curtail McGuigan and McGonagle from range last year so I do think they can mix up the way they defend. Dont think they will be getting Callum McGrogan back anytime soon but S Young and a couple others seem close enough

I think they will be happy enough. Dirty diesel blew out and management have a stick to bate them with for the next round. Few of those others back for the next round to strengthen them again

Correct. Ideal match for them. All about winning. Move on and get set for the next game.

Plenty to work on. As I say, ideal position for management. Early days I know but for Newbridge to do three-in-a-row, it would be some achievement.

Ryan O

"All about winning" is definitely up there with the "from the start" shout.

Brendan

Think the 4 points belies the story of the game, 2 good saves from the Kilrea keeper in the first half and Newbridge dictated the tempo for most of the game
