We were getting the free books from her, and they just stopped lately because our little boy reached the age where it ends. We got a lovely email and video message wishing him good luck at school and encouraging him to keep on reading.

Dolly Rebecca Parton was born on January 19 1946 in a one-room cabin on the banks of the Little Pigeon River outside Pigeon Forge in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. She was the fourth of 12 children born to Robert, a tobacco farmer, and his wife Avie Dee. Though extremely poor, her childhood was cushioned by the love of her large family. Her signature song, Coat of Many Colours (1971), describes the patchwork coat painstakingly sewed for Dolly by her mother. Her pride in the garment was shattered by the ridicule of her classmates, and she later said that "the worst thing about poverty is not the actual living it, but the shame of it".

Famously[&wisely] kept out of politics BUT she lived by example instead of preaching about all the good she did.

Hard to believe, but English don't have the same affinity to American country as Irish where it's a strong sub-culture particularly in rural Ireland. That said, her song, not a country song, "I will always love you" spent many weeks at number one for Whitney Houston.

Captain Obvious

Tim Curry's best and most memorable role for me.

Had a massive stroke, never really recovered from it, wheelchair bound and constant care.

Massive Stroke or heart attack? Think I'll take the Heart attack go in a flash
