Wise up. This £6m was a fraction of the education budget ring-fenced for Irish medium education. The DUP have played the sectarian card shamelessly once again. SF ministers have never taken funds ring-fenced for loyalist or unionist communities and allocated elsewhere. Don't post on an empty head.

Unfortunately that's not the case. For some reason the Shinners seem to be determined to play fair while the DUP does it's utmost to keep its constituency happy which is why, for instance, they brought out a community hall refurbished Grant which was skewed to favour orange halls and church halls. They also introduced a grant scheme to put 3G pitches at orange halls and one at aughnacloy high school which was not justified but was built as Maurice Morrow was minister. You've got to hand it to them, meanwhile the SF ministers can't order a Chinese if their officials tell them they can only have an Indian and they're eating at home if the DUP decides that Indian is off the menu too

Which one? I remember the Lisneal fuss but I think there was also a CCMS school that got big money for a pitch too also having alleged to have bypassed due process.

senior Orangeman and leading DUP politicians have discussed accessing Irish Government funding for a new 'William of Orange trail'.

Gavin Robinson and Mervyn Gibson, who is the Grand Secretary of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, met with Communities Minister Gordon Lyons in November 2025.

King William III's victory at the Battle of the Boyne on July 12, 1690, is celebrated each year with Twelfth parades across Northern Ireland.

In July 1998, the Irish Government purchased Oldbridge House in Co Meath — the location of the battle — and developed it as a heritage site. It is currently undergoing a €10m regeneration, paid for through the Shared Island Fund.

Details released under the Freedom of Information (FoI) Act show that Mr Gibson, Mr Robinson and Mr Lyons discussed a number of topics at Causeway Exchange last November.

Notes state: "Development of historic William of Orange trail across the island of Ireland — benefits for tourism, and potential for Shared Island funding.


"Need for further scoping and development and the potential engagement with councils to seek assistance with development."

When asked for further comment, the Department for Communities (DfC) said: "For the details on this trail, you would need to speak to Mervyn Gibson."

The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland was contacted but has not responded.
