I'm a completely avowed Kane fan.

And I've watched England more closely than an Irishman should for the past 5 tournaments as a result.

It's the same theme every time. England go out go by a narrow margin and the internet wants to know why Harry didn't show up.

Every time I wonder.

This is a man who his whole life has shown he will score goals if his team will just, you know, try to attack.

And England without fail go out without trying to attack.

To me - the Kane fan - it's madness. Just force the game and try to win 4-2 instead of 1-0.

They'll understand it better when he's gone I think.
 

Such a quality player. If he'd went to a good side earlier and had not bottle job managers/team mates with England he'd be getting talked about as one of the best ever.

He stayed with Spurs, I mean f*ckimg Spurs. Whether through loyalty or fear, he missed out on major trophies in the premiership and europe.
Let this be a lesson for all up and coming football prospects: Dont sign for Spurs.

Is Kane their best ever player? Striker certainly. Player? Better than Rooney? Darren Anderton?

Not close to Rooney as a player but performed a lot better for England.

Myself and a friend were having that exact debate in the bar on Saturday before England v Norway. I was saying Rooney and he was saying Kane for who was better. Although I must admit he made a serious argument for Kane. Different types of players tbf, Rooney would have sacrificed a lot of goals for the sake of winning when that United team were properly motoring

Alan Shearer, you are just embarassed for the man at this stage.

He was pretty magnanimous post match. Said that the better team won, without any equivocation or qualification.

As for the final, I can't see any logical, radical reason to pick Argentina, other than the fact they have Messi. Which might be enough.

Really like Spain but the amount of crying England are doing online it would nearly make me support Argentina! Obviously couldn't begrudge Messi another win either.

Rooney scored 1 World Cup goal in 11 appearances so he's hardly a man for the big occasion either (only 1 assist also).
He was great in Euro 2004 but greatly underachieved at Euros and WCs overall.

Rooney was a fantastic player. Whole hearted but could get frustrated easily enough. And it probably wasn't difficult to become frustrated in those England teams.

Good few tournaments Rooney was carrying an injury into if I remember right? 2010 or was it 2012 or possibly both he had been flying and picked up an injury for United and was totally off it.

Rooney was full fit for his last Tournament but had the broken foot and groin strain at one and an ankle injury in the other..

Two cracking players to be fair and different styles so all depends on the style you prefer rather at times the numbers

Spain when made subs in semi final made like for like substitutions for players and kept sake formation that had got themselves into that position.

England would have been better served having Rashford and Saka coming on to run in behind and exploit the weakness in the Argentina full back positions. They certainly would have got some chances on the break. As others have said Kane became largely redundant given how defensive team was. They would have been as well having Watkins through the middle for last 30 mins given how they ended up setting up. I am sure he would have fancied a 1 v 1 against Otamendi.
