Quote from: Maroon Manc on May 11, 2026, 01:12:00 PMI'd only seen it once at the time, the excuse of Comer not hearing the whistle probably doesn't wash from him.

Hurson did miss 2 blatant black cards, the one on Comer was a rugby challenge and he completely missed the deliberate trip on McDaid around the 50 minute mark where Walsh scored a 2 point free.

But the big take away from the gam is the kick out stats that were 34-19 in Roscommons favour, Galway would have been hammered against Kerry/Donegal/Armagh with that level of incompetency. Galway had to work a lot harder in the 2nd half to get their scores as opposed to Roscommon did in the 1st.

Roscommon's 2 first half goals are horrific from a Galway point of view, far worse then I first thought. I was very surprised to see O'Flaherty start, from giving the ball away to his half arsed attempt at stopping Henneghan its not good enough. Didn't get Roche starting, could have understood if he drifted out but he didn't and he was no scoring threat at all!

Just hope McDaids injury isn't too bad, he was one of Galway better players if not the best.

But well done to Roscommon, at 6 points down they looked beaten but kicked a couple of great scores to get them back in it.

Bingo,
Roscommon #6 blatant trip on McDaid.
Marty Morrissey says he was clearly tripped, he never even mention a thing about a Black card , which is the penalty for a trip.
Walsh kicked a massive two pointer from the resulting free, Marty morrisey was more worried about telling everyone that he was kicking in the direction or Roscommon town , than mentioning that it was against the wind and it put Galway back Up By a point
Unreal
He sucks as a commentator, he missed so many vital passages, he seems to have his stupid prepared marks ready before the game starts and then just inserts them when they have no real relevance to the action.
One major advantage on physically being in Croke Park in the summer.

He is as useless as tits on a bull.

Couldn't agree more and sums up RTE's approach to gaelic football. A game for boggers - shure they all love Marty...he's wild craic.

Ref also missed two black cards for Galway players at vital stages.

When Galway were well on top in the first half there was a rugby tackle on the stand side on a Roscommon player breaking with the ball.

Also in the second half there was a blatant foot trip on Heneghan on the stand side also

Not his finest day.
Anyway Connacht is done and dusted.
Ros worthy Champions.
Leitrim will be happy enough.
Galway will shrug the shoulders and move on to the AI series.
Mayowestros - hype over, maybe hope as well?
Sligo a disappointing campaign.

Our lads have to park it from tomorrow and get ready for a mammoth task against the tough oul Tyrone's who'll be well ready for us.

Still it was great to win it and in some style.
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Exactly, the eegit is perfect for an after the game inteview with a bunch of supporters in the main street of a town, with twenty yelling into the microphone. (no disreespect to the very very genuine Roscommon man, forget his name.Burke ?, he has been a very loyal long-term supporter.)

lastly, send your complaints on a postcard to

RTE

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on May 10, 2026, 06:01:40 PMRoscommon a better team than Galway, though Galways bench nearly turned it around for them. Roacommon could go abit in the All-Ireland series!
That's always the question. I.would love to see them get to a semi with everything open after thst..

Christ almighty, there hasn't been hype in Mayo since 2021, but still every year you have people trotting it out.
It's been a dismal few years and no sign of that improving, quite the opposite.

Media hype, Andy Andy, Andy all winter and spring, "Moranball" and then poor young Kobe.
I hear u20 manager Keith Higgins was not happy with Andy putting him on for the full Senior game.
Play the game and play it fairly
