Quote from: playwiththewind1st on May 06, 2026, 02:48:09 PMFor a mere £5,000,000 contribution towards his....ahem...."long-term personal security" costs, you should be able to get Prime Minister Farage to do whatever your heart desires. No declaration required.

The single, biggest personal donation in UK political history.

Christopher Harborne didn't give it for the benefit of his or indeed Farage's health and he's also donated £22M already to the Reform party.

So the DUP spent £92k in an attempt to block dual-language signage in Portadown AND then halted £90k for the Place-Names Project.

They will go to some lengths to oppose the Irish language.

SF really need to 'man up'.

I suppose they used their own  hard earned money  doing that?

Ratepayers unfortunately but just shows hatred of anything Irish.

Not the DUP obviously but the UUP are deselecting Doug Beattie for the next Assembly elections in 2027.

Why?

Wait for it - "too moderate" apparently.  :o

Thought this quote from Robinson was very interesting too

"I'll make you two guarantees. That unionism will win that election. And if unionists bring themselves to cooperate, they will win in a way that you cannot ignore."

Man up? These are pretty obvious attempts to escalate a culture war ahead of an election, all shortly before some Dup lad or lassie is pictured with a hurl because they are really all about reconciliation message to Alliance voters.

the right approach is to find a political way to implement and puncture the hardliners balloon and let them scream into the void.

The SNP and PC have them rattled. They're in full election mode now for next May.

I see, because of boundary changes last year, that the DUP could in a seat in West Belfast.

If you think this will work with unionism, you are deluded?

Everyday they are moving to becoming more 'hardline' - moving to the TUV. Reform's election results will embolden them also. We are currenly seeing the outworkings of this already.

Did you see who they are standing?  ::)

Saw that and Alan chambers getting the boot as well. The uup under Burrows heading back over towards the DUP. A fools game as it is very crowded over there with TUV as well and a decreasing pool of voters year on year. Interesting that it said Beatie may join another party. But who? Alliance surely wouldn't touch him if they are trying to keep sitting on the fence. Independent candidate at next election much more likely.

The end of party politics couldn't come quick enough IMO, wishful thinking though.

If Doug got elected as an independent and Alliance didn't take on Justice, could he be the next justice Minister- Like Claire Sugden was.

It's a good shout, the problem Doug has is as the uup leader he didn't exactly attract the votes in upper bann so he will struggle to get voted back in as an independent. It's quite a busy constituency. Nationalism only has 1 seat when it should have 2 so can imagine he will get squeezed out

Fúck that. Shinners should go for justice.

Why should a unionist get it?
