7 of the Offaly team that played Laois in the 2022 leinster minor final started against Dublin saturday night while none of the laois team started against Carlow. Surely a couple of them are good enough to be hurling senior by now?

Laois man

Ger Quinlan and Tom Cuddy were on team last year but didn't go back in thus year.

I think that Laois team seriously over-achieved - fair play to them. However, I seem to recall the game plan was quite negative, and revolved around stopping the other team, and getting a few long-range frees. And maybe a ball or two in to Quinlan. A bit simplistic, I know, but there you have it.

Tom Cuddy is a big loss, though.

Cormac Byrne and Cormac Hogan have been in around the senior squad too with Byrne named in the 26 for the Carlow match.

Surely the named team won't start?!!

I don't think it is, I heard David Dooley is out and Podge Delaney is a doubt with a knock. Not good.

Laois man

New goalkeeper corner back out injured and a few changes in the forwards.

Good.

Whole year hinges on tomorrow. It's unfortunate the way the fixtures landed but if they lose to both Antrim and Carlow they don't deserve anything.

I've a bad feeling about it.

Cormac Hogan was cut from panel surprisingly.
Eoghan Murphy , Eoghan Cuddy, Joe Pearson , Jack Breen all on panel I think . It's a bit disappointing these lads not really featuring at all and we are going back to older lads .  How is Eoghan Murphy for example not even in the 26 ? I find that baffling tbh looking at some of lads who are there tomorrow . I don't think we are ready for Liam MacArthy at the moment and would prefer to build a new team and worry less about results this year to be honest

Lee Cleere went off at half time against Carlow, probably the injured back ?
I don't think we are on the right track  if we are just picking lads in forwards because they are big. Ok, it's factor but We need our best hurlers on the field . Cormac Byrne not the biggest but he is hardy and nearly always gets scores . Definitely a better forward than atleast two who started against Carlow in my opinion, yet not seen at all since he saved us v Kerry in league .
Eoin Gaughan , Fionán Mahony two more with a bit of bite and skill who I think could lift us a bit.

Murphy is good but I don't think he's up to senior intercounty just yet.

I don't think management have much faith in some of the younger players. They all got a chance in the league but don't think we will see too many of them in important games.

You'd imagine Cormac Byrne should be getting more time however. He is really clinical yet never really used. It's odd. Martin Phelan played the last day, and whilst he's industrious he doesn't score. He had a poor game.

You'd hope the drier sod would help the likes of James Keyes and Cillian Dunne who looked like nailed on starters as the league concluded.

The full-back line creaked against Carlow but any of the 3 would be a loss, especially with Cody Comerford injured.

I'm really surprised Eoin Gaughan isn't featuring in the half-back line or in midfield.

Laois345

Keyes seems to have fallen out of favours which is a bit odd because he was fairly consistent in the league and now he's just gone it seems.

Laois345

A strong performance today and a good win against Antrim. All the talk will be about Antrim and Davy but Laois hurled well there today.

Management spot on with selection choices. Reilly in goal was streets ahead of Dunne's performance last week. Martin Phelan very good. Subs made a big difference too.

They can kick on now.
