Need to bring in a rule that no attacking players are allowed in the 6 yard box until the corner is taken.

That would just move the jostling arena out by a couple of yard and would result in same shit, different day.

Four things that soccer needs more than anything:

1. Referees who permit physical contact in tackles. Doesn't matter where it happens on the field, if two players collide with upper bodies, it's not a free kick. If a man takes the ball first it's not a free kick. Simulation would always be a booking. Let's keep the ball in play.

2. Referees who ignore injuries and wave play on. A single physio would be permitted to enter the field immediately to attend to a grounded player at anytime. But the game goes on.

3. Referees who allow a maximum of 30 seconds for every set piece, whether it's a free kick just outside the opponent's box, a corner, a throw in at halfway. Nearest player gets booked once 30 seconds have passed. Any interference from opponents during those 30 seconds, they get booked.

4. Replays for tackles can only be analysed in realtime by var and referees. I'd love to get rid of var completely. But they won't. So the can at least sway it away from looking for reasons to send players off.

Yeah agree with all of that, except that if you put them out of the 6 yard box the keeper has some sort of chance, now hes being blocked off by 3 or 4 big men, at times his own defenders since they have to be in on top of him to mark their man so he hasn't a hope.

Either that or allow fair game for the keeper to come out elbow/fist first and clear everything

Quote from: statto on February 04, 2026, 08:18:04 AMArsenal did the hard work in the first leg.  Arteta playing with the handbrake on will catch them out in the Champions League eventually, but they should win the league at a canter now given how poor Liverpool and City have been this season.

As others have said the EPL is getting hard to watch.

Was it better last year?  ::)

The Champions last year played an attacking style of football and had an attacking player who was unplayable at times in the early part of the season particularly.  This years champions elect play with the handbrake on and rely on set pieces for goals.  Liverpool last year where a significantly better watch than Arsenal this year.

For the neutral, it wouldn't have been a great league as Liverpool won it at a canter, but they were far easier on the eye and good to watch.

Liverpool are still playing attacking football, just letting more in defence maybe this season
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Are keepers an endangered species or what? One of the worst takes i have ever read.

Let keepers stay on their line if players are blocking them, They already have an advantage of been able to  use their hands at corners.

Long ball FC, Not as "attacking" this season without Trents long balls over the top for Salah to run onto.

Long Ball FC??

Right, because there is no difference between pinging long, quality passes into a player's path, whether over the top or between the backs, and Wimbledon/Allardyce/Jack Charlton-style lumping it up to the big man in the hope that that colleagues can win the second ball or the flick on.

Top 5 scorers for Liverpool last season In the Premier League

Salah 29
Luis Diaz 13
Gakpo 10
Jota 6
Szoboszlai 6

Arsenal this season with 14 games to play.

Gyokeres 6
Trossard 5
Saka,Eze,Merino,Rice,Zubimendi and own goals 4
Magalhaes 3
Jesus,Timber 2

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

gawa316

Arsenals defence plus Rice and Zumimendi obviously their strength.

Saka is the only world class potential in their forwards but he's not having a great season.

Team of the season so far would look something like this...

—————————-—Raya———————-
Timber-Saliba-Gabriel-Califiori
———————-Rice——Zumimendi
Semenyo———Bruno——Ekitike
——————————Haaland

Califiori has only started 16 games, but there is no real other stand out option at left back.

Roefs/Mukiele from Sunderland have both had great seasons, Raya has little to do as the defence is generally so strong.

Rogers from Villa has had some excellent moments though maybe a little inconsistent.

If Luke Shaw was to keep fit and playing would he be in with a shout? Decent enough season without being brilliant and I know most of it was at left centre back so far but he's been good enough under Carrick, gave little or nothing away against Arsenal and City.

United concede nearly every week, so that probably doesn't help his cause.

Shaw has a habit of finding a bit of form and fitness in Euros/World Cup seasons.

5. Treat all the teams the same. Big clubs still get all the big calls from VAR. Also when they losing we get 10-12 injury time and when they winning only 4 minutes.

Lads from Arsenal never pulled for diving.  Jesus, Sako, Merino, Martinelli, Tossard and Gabriel at all time. When opposition team do they yelling at lad to get up.

Forest or Burnley lad dives they get yellow card.
