Astounded this isn't major news, but Nasa are sending humans into lunar orbit in a few weeks for the first time in 50 years. Suppose it isn't clicky ragebait so doesnt generate ad revenue.
If all goes well with this mission, Artemis 3 will bring humans back to the lunar surface in around 2028.

I can't imagine there is anything up there, a possible vanity project but wasting that amount of money to go on to a rock was one of the reasons the missions were cancelled (or filming was stopped, depending on your view)

Yes, that is what I thought the whole point of Artemis is. A test and practice project to see if a manned Mars mission could be feasible.
