Captain Obvious

Elmo and Patsy's - Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.

Greg Lake - I believe in father Christmas

Mistress for Christmas - AC/DC

Substandard

Worked in Dunnes Stores for a stint once upon a while ago, and there used to be songs played on a loop that to this day nearly bring on a rash if I hear even one line.  I always feel the height of sympathy for retail staff this time of year.  I always reckoned I'd convert to Judaism or Islam each December and January if I was still there.
Fairytale is in a spot of its own, provided I can avoid overexposure- even it has a threshold.
Fairytale of New York
I believe in Father Christmas
When a child is born

Honorable mentions to Stop the Cavalry and 2000 miles.

Orior

I cannot drop one, so here's four:
  • 2000 miles - The Pretenders
  • Christmas Time - The Darkness
  • Simply having a wonderful Christmas time - Paul McCartney
  • Sleigh Ride - The Ronettes

"It's the most wondertime time of the year" by Andy Williams was never my favourite but it has been absolutely ruined by a Holiday company. Barstewards.
Cover me in chocolate and feed me to the lesbians

BigGreenField

Joni Mitchell - River
Paul McCartney - The Frog Chorus
Run DMC - Christmas in Hollis

Honourable mention to De Burgh for Spaceman came travelling, smashing tune to join in with in the shopping centre and embarrass the kids. Dishonourable mention to Springsteen for Santa Claus is coming to town, what was he thinking.

ONeill

The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping
Mariah
Queen - Thank God
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

He wasn't. That  was brutal

The Jackson 5 version is  ear-piercingly  brutal as well .

I like this version of the song and more aesthetically pleasing than De Burgh.

I'm a bit of a bah humbug on Christmas songs - same stuff, different year.

Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea is the GOAT though.

Merry Christmas - Ed Sheeran/Elton John
Sleigh Ride - The Ronettes
Only You - Flying Pickets, (reminds me of Christmas anyways)

Armagh18

Fairytale obviously number 1- outside of that I like Chris De Burgh- spaceman, Chris Rea driving home for Vhristmas.

Springsteen's version is brilliant! Even if it owes a heavy debt to Phil Spector.

Speaking of whom...

Darlene Love's "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home" is always a highlight each year

I'd throw in Nat King Cole's "Oh Holy Night" (and his "The Christmas Song" goes without saying).

Wizzard's "I wish it could be Christmas every day" never gets old.

Decent shout on Only You, if we're going there I'll fire Mull of Kintyre into the ring

weareros

3 recordings from 70s

I do consider Arthur McBride (the Paul Brady version) a great Christmas song

Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody

Boney M - Mary's Boy Child

Wizard - Wish it could be Christmas everyday
Boney M - Mary's Boy Child
Stop the Calvary
David Essex - Winters Take
