I would assume Dunloy, Moneyglass and Sarsfields management will all be staying on after successful seasons?
Is Pete McGrath still in charge at Aghagallon?

Aghagallon have posted that Kevin McKernan and Dessie Marshall are their new managers.
Apparently Gavin Devlin looking Murty O Brien in along side him with Magherafelt with his management team, also wee Gerard Mc was telling me that Creggan had asked him so I'd assume Cassidy isn't in with kickhams,is this K Mc Kernan who played for Down, any experience in management

Appears to be him G&T, he was taking Dundalk Gaels for 2 years and did rightly.

McKernan is going out with a sister of the Lenahan's that play for them.

So that likely had a factor in him taking them.

What managers are out there looking for roles? Hearing from a few clubs they're struggling to fill the posts.

I can imagine , most clubs in Antrim and Derry both seem to be wanting managers

Hard one to sort some clubs may need to look internally

It's whether (unfortunately) club players will accept an internal member to take the team..

None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Club players would need to take a serious look at themselves if they wouldn't accept a club member running their team.

Agree , lot of teams could do with it and save their clubs the £££

It's overplayed, that's just the line you get from fellas that are going about the place getting paid or the clubs doing the paying.
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

NatSoSaff

Am I being naive or is it not typically an independent business man/club member with a few pound who is keen to support the club by financing some of these paid external coaches/managers? I can't see how cash flow would come legitimately through the clubs books to them.

Quote from: HTownlad on November 13, 2025, 05:05:16 PMSt Galls appointed internally (which should almost always be the case) and it caused players to walk away for those years

If you can appoint internally then it something that should be the first option

It should be the case if you have clubmen suitable for the role. Theres club that don't have any suitable to manage senior football. Or go elsewhere for $$ but do you blame them?

Or maybe lads in the club don't want the hassle? Family members, friends sons etc all in the team people who you may have loyalty/ soft spot for. If you're taking another club there's no real loyalty which in turn gets the best out of players. Prob not how it should be but it's a reality in many clubs. It's too simplistic to say it's simply money.

"Hands up who'd do it for nothing" would be an interesting litmus test.

Hoof Hearted

Senior and intermediate champions this year had internal managers.

Yes but they had outside coaches. My own club have always had internal managers but they are usually not coaches so they hire in some expertise in that area. Has worked well at times.
I'm not a fan of paid Managers but I'm a realist and sometimes you have to appoint the best man. Players demand and expect this.

Or hands up who'd do it , paid or not.

A serious commitment, players have high (too high?) expectations and sometimes expect some combination of Mick o'dwyer and Mickey Harte walking in.

I think most in-house managers are fairly well got by their own but very challenging gig at all levels.
