That's a good thing though , isn't it?

Was it not getting really boring seeing  Dublin  winning  9 titles in  12 years?

Feel like i've been saying this for decades but i'll have another go.

Our league is the marguee format. Every game is competitive and it could produce an even better spectacle if tailored a little. We've been doing somersaults to train the provincial championships to the detrement of the game.

Provincial championships first (Use for seeding)
Senior - 12 teams
Inter - 12 teams
Junior - 13 teams
Play everyone once.
Top 4 AI 1/4s
5 - 12 1/4 final prelim
Bottom 2 relegated.

You're going to have to go again with that one?

What happens the team in 5th? If the sf is the top 4 then wtf are the qf prelims for?

Really a team that had been very hard to beat for two years at that point? In a championship where the top teams of the previous 5 or more years had all regressed?  Not sure they were any more surprising than any other winner would have been.

From the Irish Examiner

QuoteThe All-Ireland senior football final will return to August in 2027 if a motion is passed at Congress in February.

The proposal, which would also entail the hurling final moving to the last weekend in July, was supported in principle by Central Council on Saturday.

Should it receive 60% support from delegates next year, the football decider will take place on the second weekend in August with a gap weekend between the two finals. The recommendations of the group commissioned by GAA president Jarlath Burns were presented by former director general Páraic Duffy.

Tied into the idea is pre-seasons being discontinued permanently from 2027 – although they return next year after being suspended this year – and abandoning the possibility of All-Ireland finals drawn at the end of normal time going to replays. A motion proposing such a move was withdrawn earlier this year pending further discussion as tied into it was provincial finals level after extra-time going to replays.

To compensate for the impact on their club championships, the representatives of the All-Ireland SHC and SFC finals will receive byes in the provincial club championships. Semi-final byes will be given in Connacht and Munster and those in Leinster and Ulster will avoid first or preliminary round matches.

As pre-season competitions are back in January, the return to training date will be early November although protocols relating to it have to be confirmed. The Gaelic Players Association had insisted on the eight-week run-in to the early January start of the provincial competitions.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Like the fact they're pushing the All Ireland, no replays is daft. Not that it makes a difference as teams train away anyway but why on earth do you need an 8 week lead in to preseason games ffs.
