Quote from: Capt Pat on July 23, 2025, 08:01:45 PMI have watched 60 of those films. Has anyone seen all 100 of them?

Anchorman is on the list at 85 so it isn't all bad.

Oh Christ... :o

I don't think I've  even heard of 60 of them.  Films just ain't what they used  to be. And these  new breed of actors and actresses  just don't hold any appeal to me.

Now, where did I put  my pipe and slippers?....

Quote from: Mourne Red on July 23, 2025, 11:29:39 AMJesus.. Some woke nonsense that list

What does this mean ffs. No way for you to shoehorn Conor Bradley into the discussion?

What are you on about Gallsman?

My Woke remark was to Black Panther isn't even the best marvel film but is included because of its link to black culture. Basically Lion King rip off, King dies, relative scares/defeats of the son, goes away gets a new gang comes back and defeats his cousin and gets throne.

Was actually thinking about that and Slumdog Millionaire too. K-Pax should get ahead of a lot of those films as would Mystic River and a few Denzels (John Q & Man on Fire). Those last Avengers films were very good too.

I recall when it first came out and the high praise it got for how someone black finally got a leading role in super hero movie,  it was like Blade with Wesley Snipes before it never happened.

Just finished Oldboy there could never find a stream with decent subtitles before but got it with a free trial on Amazon.

Jesus what a film! Absolutely bonkers but brilliant as well.

Yeah its definitely one of those you really remember first time you see it. The lead actor is in a film "I saw the Devil" with the guy who plays Front Man In Squid Game.
Excellent horror film

'woke nonsense'....fáilte go 2025. You'll look back some day and shudder

51 of those watched, some great, shows. There Will be Blood, Inglorious and Wolf of Wall Street 3 standouts for me.

Wildweasel74

I stopped at Mad Max Fury road No.11, Sack the bollix who complied this list, at the New York Times.

Lord of the rings should be up near No.1 that old English dialogue obviously too much for Americans. And look where Gladiator at, Christ!

Not on the list but surely worthy of inclusion:

Hacksaw Ridge
The Pianist
Catch Me If You Can
Master and Commander
The Prestige
Gone Baby Gone
Prisoners
Free Solo

nrico2006

Definitely agree on the Prestige, Prisoners, Master and Commander and the Pianist.

#8486
Manchester by the sea (tho like a lot I would need to rewatch)

Edit - Free Solo, although excellent, would this not be more a documentary

It would, but so is Grizzly Man, which is on the Top 100 list.

Fairs.

3 billboards
Into the wild

I'll stop now but I've come to the conclusion that the list although useful for some more films to watch, is also useless 🤓
