Quote from: Denn Forever on June 01, 2025, 10:42:48 AMNo mention of the minor team who won an all ireland in Tullamore sterday? Now if that was Cavan........

It's a win and those aren't too frequent at any level at the moment, but realistically it's a win in All-Ireland 'C' - as opposed to a Leinster title and 'A' quarter-final last year - so the enthusiasm will be at a lower level.

Shamrock Shore

Yeah. Fraid so. Good for the young lads but.................

Who is favourite for Connolly this year?

I fear that Mostrim have finally run out of road.

Killoe, Colmcille or Abbey for the main prize?  ;)

Leader Cup final:

Clonguish 2-16 Colmcille 3-10

Clonguish complete the league double (Division 1 and Leader Cup). The third leg of the triple awaits.

Yes Laurel, 2 titles in the bag. The third leg is significantly harder and all other opponents will be at full strength or very close to it as lads return.

I know the league is always second on the list in terms of priority but I feel there was more of an edge to the Leader Cup final when it was played in Oct/Nov/Dec. However, players are happy not to have the season drag into the depths of winter.

Should be a good championship and just like the county scene, a lot of teams will be quietly fancying their chances.

Senior championship time rolls round again.

Group A

Colmcille v Carrickedmond, Friday 8pm, Edgeworthstown
Dromard v Mostrim, Saturday 7pm, Ballinalee
Killoe v Granard, Saturday 7pm, Aughacordrinan

Group B

Abbeylara v Fr. Manning Gaels, Friday 8pm, Legga
Longford Slashers v Clonguish, Friday 8pm, Cloonee
Mullinalaghta v Rathcline, Saturday 7pm, Farneyhoogan

Odds:

Paddy Power (https://www.paddypower.com/gaelic-games/longford-club-football?tab=outrights):

Killoe 5/2
Clonguish 3/1
Colmcille 9/2
Mullinalaghta 9/2
Dromard 11/2
Abbeylara 8/1
Granard 14/1
Longford Slashers 16/1
Rathcline 25/1
Fr. Manning Gaels 33/1
Carrickedmond 66/1

BoyleSports (https://www.boylesports.com/sports/gaa/outrights):

Clonguish 5/2
Killoe 10/3
Mullinalaghta 7/2
Colmcille 4/1
Dromard 9/2
Abbeylara 8/1
Granard 14/1
Longford Slashers 20/1
Mostrim 20/1
Rathcline 33/1
Fr. Manning Gaels 40/1
Carrickedmond 50/1

I know it won't be appreciated but Clonguish strike me as being the very obvious favourites, with Colmcille and possibly Killoe the main dangers to the treble. I think the direction of travel has been clear for the last few years and sadly for most clubs, like the county setup, the direction has been backwards.

LaurelEye

Colmcille 1-13 Carrickedmond 0-11
Abbeylara 3-19 Fr. Manning Gaels 0-10
Clonguish 0-28 Longford Slashers 2-8

No surprises.

LaurelEye

Dromard 2-21 Mostrim 0-10
Killoe 1-17 Granard 1-15
Mullinalaghta 0-12 Rathcline 1-11

One surprise which probably shouldn't be (Rathcline have started strongly in the championship before).

Watches this on clubber lastnight(Super service on the dodgy box). Game could have gone either way in last few mins and Carrick deserved the draw at minimum.

How do you see tonight's 3 matches going. Any chance of an upset from Rathcline after last weeks win against abbeylara who put up a big score last weekend

They could easily have knocked Abbey out in the quarter-final last year but that also means Abbey are more likely to be forewarned.

LaurelEye

Granard 2-9 Dromard 1-17
Fr Manning Gaels 0-14 Longford Slashers 1-18
Rathcline 0-18 Abbeylara 0-10

LaurelEye

Mostrim 0-14 Colmcille 1-16
Clonguish 4-20 Mullinalaghta 3-9

At this stage, Killoe, Colmcille, Rathcline and Dromard are competing to see who loses by ~10 points in the final to Clonguish. Everyone else is scrabbling to avoid the relegation play-offs.

I see there is no game in Pearse Park this week.
Do each club get to play a group game in the Park or how does that work?
