Christ almighty what a ridiculous comment. There are no kids capable of 'playing crap' on purpose for half a league. Stay away from coaching if this enters your head.

Think he maybe just poorly phrased , probably meant fielding a weaker team , well you'd hope !

Exactly, no one goes out to get beat, not even seniors.
But how many times in tournaments have you seen coaches play weakened teams and took off better players so as to finish in shield positions just to win
Personally I never done it, or agree with it, but it 100% happens.

ive a perception there is a bigger problem of coaches purposely entering leagues and championships that are beneath their level

Take the Mark

Thats for sure Spike, lets see how it works out for the kids progression long term.

Yes that happens and I don't agree with it.

For all that, looking at the league table - U16 Div 2 looks like a decent league to play in.

The county should move to all county at u14 both for player development and it would also help get the grading right before clubs get to u16.

After that diversion, I see the bbc is touting P McGrath as a candidate for the Antrim job, or maybe they just had a paragraph to fill.

aghagallon players will  definitely be hoping there is truth in this. Seems like the perfect candidate

Would you not be better petitioning Hannon or whoever is fitting Petes bill instead of this tiresome vendetta?

Are you suggesting that Hannon runs the show ?

Take the Mark

Have no idea, hes the only sponsor I know hence 'or whoever'

I'd say you're not far away from the truth

Around the glens

You have to pick what you enter in advance, dunloy lost a lot of players from the football last year, there was absolutely no indication on wether they would get all come back. Hence why the managers had chosen div2 incase they were light.

On another note they played rossa last night, the referee was a young lad McNally, not sure what club. Very impressed.

Absolutely no indication?

There is a thing that's done in other parts of the world where they would ask the lads, or their parents, what their intentions are for the season ahead.

Does not guarantee that there won't be some further change.

But it gives a good indication.

Antrim

Same thing happening with Div 2 minor football. Gort too good for that league. All you get out of them is that they dont have any full U18 players. We are in the same league have been doing well but couldn't get near them. They are far too good for the league.

In saying that I don't like that you can play Div 1 and enter B Championship. St John's and Aldergrove both doing that. Should be a rule there to stop that.

Hectic

Ultimately clubs entering juvenile teams into competitions that are too easy for them are not maximising their development potential.

In leagues it's only one game for their opponents but it's a full year of missed opportunity for the clubs in question.

Unless of course they value a B or C title (do many teams even care who wins juvenile leagues?) more than developing lads at as good a level as possible.
