Quote from: Saffrongael on April 23, 2025, 09:48:47 PMAntrim U-20s came up short against Dublin tonight, losing 4-20 to 2-19. Dublin had pulled well ahead in the second half and were 9 up with about 5 to go, Antrim two late goals.

Strange Cormac McKeown didn't start, was very bright when he came on and got one of the goals.

Dublin were just a bit more accomplished and we didn't score for 20 mins after getting the second goal in the first half. It is a young U-20 team who will hopefully learn from it. The tackling and hits was probably something they weren't used to.

Dublin seemed to win so much of the ball when it was in the rucks.

That period after the second goal killed us a bit. The fact that Dublin wiped it out straight away was disappointing but to then not score again after that def hurt us.

Dublin looked at times that they had extra players on the pitch but fair play to the lads for sticking at it and never dropping the head. Some very good young players on that panel.

Worst performance from an Antrim team in championship for some time. A big problem is depth in panel. Subs made - we brought on boys that look like they are too young or two lite. A lot boys off the pace.

18pts in it, which has been par for the course lately against Kilkenny. We are miles behind teams like Kilkenny, none of this is new, I know.
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

What are Ulster Colleges playing at with the two hurling competitions?

What a total shambles.

From what I can tell neither Forester's or Gallagher Cup finished this year.

According to their website C&P won the Foresters cup on penalties in March.

FFS...at school level? What's a ringer in this case (alledgely), an older player?

Be mad if this is true?

I never get this 'ringer' craic. Coaches are just depriving a 'proper' player game time.

Is there a rule about the minimum age a player has to be?

Never heard that mentioned before.

I thought it was because the game went to penalties AET, when it should have went to a replay ?
