Ryan owns a pharmacy there and was coaching a bit for Leitrim Gaels and Garvan teaches school there. I still don't understand how they can play for a club in Leitrim while they live in derrygonnelly and Enniskillen??

Idk why another club has even bothered taking them. They were never any good against us in the ulster club whereas i remember few other boys like leigh jones and eamo mchugh were way ahead them. I take it them boys dont cause derrygonnelly the same headaches.

Quote from: jay110 on January 29, 2025, 10:20:27 PMThere was a 5 page letter they sent to the club that was leaked. It was sent out after neither of the 3 joneses featured in the SFL Final last year, which forced them to quit playing for the club.
The reason they were dropped is because they hadn't been playing/training throughout the whole league campaign( due to holidays/injuries etc) which is totally fair. The letter included detail that they weren't happy with the people starting over them( one being the managers 20 year old son). The joneses being the people they are basically expected to walk into the team as they are "the best".

So that was the main reason behind them falling out with the club people. But the letter included lots of details on how previous managers and officials in the club have been talking behind their backs at matches/club meetings/wakes. They were basically talking about how much hard work they were to manage and how they thought they were better than everyone else. They were referred to as "toxic people" but according to them because they can score 7 points in a game that cancels out their personalities.

So basically a big fall out with the majority of club members forced them to quit.

Is the manager's son any good?

If it's who I'm thinking of I'd say scoring 7 points in a Hogan cup final and playing for Larne would merit a starting place

Tbf growing up in Larne and having a season book from ages about 8-11 there was no shortage of fellas that could kick a ball over the bar.

I think yous are getting mixed up. Michael glynn scored 0-7 in hogan final but hasn't played for derrygonnelly since 2020. Jarlath Flanagan I think is the managers son who played over the jones'. Also to note he played every league game and has worked extremely hard last few years to get himslef into shape whereas jones think they can come and go as they wanted.

Rumours doing the rounds the past few weeks that Shane Walsh is heading to the Ballina Stephenites.  Sure he might as well change county too ;D

If he went to Mayo it would be like these soccer players going to Saudi Arabia, retirement from trying to win trophies.
