Quote from: Duine Inteacht Eile on March 14, 2025, 10:50:38 PMAs long as it doesn't interfere with INXS.

Might be worth making it Paul Heaton, extending it to the Housemartins and his own stuff.

Fantastic artist btw

Going to see him Friday
Same

Got to see him live in Dublin last night won't be left disappointed lads. Paul Heaton as good as ever and Rianne Downey has an good voice and accompanies him brilliantly. Near 2 hour set with 25 songs.

Lighting seeds good also but short just 8 songs and they apparently don't sing three lions in Ireland.

Quote from: ONeill on March 20, 2025, 10:28:23 PMThat's a really topical question in my house. Or car. I collected the young girl from work recently and told her about this thread. She said "are you still on that you sad bastid" but then went on to say that the Mama Mia versions were far better. I was aghast.

I hope you threw her  out and made her walk home  ;D

Mourne Red

Quote from: AustinPowers on March 20, 2025, 10:05:50 PMQuick question  - has anyone covered an Abba song  better than Abba themselves?

I'm struggling to  name one

I felt they covered "Why Did it Have to be me" better than the band did in Mamma Mia 2

Quote from: Tony Baloney on March 18, 2025, 07:30:34 PMCan we add GN'R to the list.

Are they deserving of a place? Is there  many big hits  to choose from?
;D

INXS are next up but yeah, Guns n Roses haven't really done enough to be included.

I'm still smarting over OCS so glad to see your mad criteria slapped on previous backers.

Did you ever?! GNR over 100 million sold  ::) but Ocean Colour Scene gets a run! GNR certainly have no big hits to rival The Riverboat Song.

Hey don't look at me. I didn't suggest any of  them  ;D

Interestingly,  the number of top 40 hits (UK)  for each

INXS 18
GNR 17
OCS 17

I Was surprised at the  numbers for last two tbh, especially OCS

But , I'll leave it  up to the viewers, if there's no (further) objections, we can add all three  to the list . After Steps,  of course

Jesus lads. G n r were huuuuge back in the day. Absolutely f**king huge. Rather than doing UK top ten hits do worldwide albums or something.

But anyway tis only bitta craic end of day.

(But they were f**king huuuuge) 😋

Yep.

Sweet Child O' Mine, Patience, Don't Cry, November Rain, Paradise City, Welcome to the Jungle, You Could be Mine.

Every last person on earth would visually pick Slash and Axl out of a line up of rock stars.

They're one of the biggest bands of all time.

Ocean Colour Scene might headline Glastonbury one day. But only if proper legends like GNR are all dead.

f**king huge face, I'm not sure if its Mickey Rourke or Axil Rose up there singing!
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Never heard of them two

I think  some people might think because they've had  some  big hits , that they   have had  loads of hits.  I could probably only name  6 songs, and I'm probably  not the only one

AustinPowers

Right, are we  done with ABBA?

Are we ready for the  next one? Controversial as it is...  :-\

Jell 0 Biafra

Never heard most of them. Those two plus Patience and November rain. Sweet Child, Paradise City and Jungle would be the only three of theirs I'd know.

So if we're doing them, that's my three.  Can't stand any of them though.

Too young for Terminator 2 perhaps.
