Lachlan Murray has just turned 22 according to the Irish news last week. That's still young in my book.

A few of the lads from the 2022/23/24 minor teams could probably do a job for the senior team, but success at that level should (and is) their main priority. We shouldn't be throwing them in too early, especially given the tendency to write somebody off after a few bad performances.

All being well, these lads won't be available until the championship (the real one), so they'll miss the league and Ulster campaign - but that's ok in my book. They are arguably the most talented group of players we've ever had. They deserve to be nurtured correctly - we'll still have football to play next year & the year after..

First time poster, long time lurker. Been on the rollercoaster in both directions  ;D

I'm in agreement with giving these players time to develop. The talent is in them.

Consistency usually comes with age and hopefully we can develop these forwards so that it's not all reliant on one or two players.

McGuigan (and I mean this with absolutely no disrespect to a unbelievable player, 100% star) but he had the nicest introduction to county football possible, Division 4, starring in a Div 4 Final, and rising through the leagues. And the point I'm making is that Division 1 is a much tougher starting point and a hard place to blood new players.

Of the retirees I miss Bradley, he's got a two pointer in him even if it might only as an impact sub. But maybe that's the price we pay for blooding these new players and we have to accept that.

" Oisin Doherty and Ruairi Forbes all of whom have the potential to play Senior inter county football if they remain committed and develop physically to withstand the rigors of Senior football.
Unfortunately there may be too much of an age gap between some of our older and current best Senior players and many of the talented youngsters. I hope that I am wrong and all of our best Senior players will still be playing when these talented minors finally make the breakthrough. If they are then the prospects of a Senior All = Ireland title increase a hundred fold.
P.S. Of course I should have included Charlie Diamond and Jody McDermott amongst the 2020 Minor graduates!"
I would add Luke Grants name to the list form the last couple of years Minor teams also  , (Canavan the full back from last year is also one i would keep an eye on )

Personally team I would go with.

                 Lynch
        Bradley, McEvoy, P Mc Grogan
CD ,  Mc Faul, CMc Grogan/Cassidy
              Glass, Rogers
        Ethan,  Loughlin,  Paul Cass
         Toner,   Mc Guigan,   Murray

Couple lads there obviously only coming back to full fitness but long term and with no McKinless I think we need someone who organises middle if that defence along with giving Rogers more freedom.
Niall Loughlin will work his heart out in CHF with Murphy, Jody Mc D, Baker subs that are capable of doing a job. Anton tohill to full forward when needed towards end of any game has potential to change tactics.

Really like that team Ryan O. I've always thought McFaul plays his best football at 6 and now would be an ideal time to stick him in there with the injuries to McKinless and Clucky. I would maybe switch Loughlin and Shane depending on how Loughlin's fitness is.

Good enough team but will mcfaul be fit for the next game? He's only played 1 and 3/4 games so far so he must be carrying an injury. Not sure about loughlin at chf as he's only back after a long injury. He could do a job inside though as he's a good finisher.

Not sure about Mc Faul but long term with everyone back I think its an option. As for Loughlin, him and Mc Guigan could swap when required. For two really clinical finishers their appetite for defending is first class. One of the two of them along with Murray need to be up front at all times.

Shall we just call the team South Derry from now on? 😃

Have you anyone to suggest that I have missed? Perhaps from North Derry.

Think Gilmore would start if fit. Is McNicholl an option in the half forward line if the experiment as keeper has ended? Looks useful outfield but I haven't seen enough of him with glenullin.

Be interesting to see if PT goes back to Lynch this week-end.

Good player. Too small for county senior though.

I wonder why 3 or 4 different managers with the last 3 being outsiders still haven't found this talent thats hiding in North Derry?

Why has the Derry SFC championship only been won 3 times in 35 years by North Derry clubs 2 of which were by Dungiven.

Is that directly linked to talent availablity?
