MR2 - are there any plans for referees to go out to clubs before the season and do an explainer on the new rules? Running my eye down the FAQs (linked below) and any referee is going to have some job this year!

It is totally unfair on referees. Bringing that many rules in at one time was such a stupid decision.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but 9 out of 10 matches were unwatchable. Something radical had to happen, and here we are.

Don't be throwing the baby out with the bath water. If you've been to a game you'll know they are straight forward and the big thing is that as players we like it! Not too hard to pick up!

Is there anyone giving off about the rules who's been to a game to see them?

Me, also any games you've been at have no meaning. But I welcome the optimism

3 Up & no pass back to keeper will make the difference the rest should be binned before end of the year

I'm guessing it was v Louth and not Monaghan or Wexford?

Simply because there hasn't been that many games

They played UU at Jordanstown, I was refereeing it so think that qualifies

I've watched the games at Croke park which applied the rules also

I've also attended the online Croke park meeting with those who made the rules up..

You claimed I didn't watch a game or ref'd a game and bring up moments in the game I ref'd?

Don't get ratty! You didn't apply the rules! Players talking to you who where not the captain, sidelines shouting on and you seen Hand take a dig to the face.

I'll send you the video and you can watch it back and compare those rules to the Wexford and Monaghan Games! You'll see a difference. Again don't be taking it personal, you done a job which myself and the players are greatful for.

I'm confused, you had no idea in you post that I either seen a game or involved when I replied to you.

You then all of a sudden know I was and have a video of it?

You said the rules weren't applied? Both managers wanted the new rules applied and they were.

It was the first game for both and  me, it's my judgement call to decide on people talking back, not yours or the players, if I seen players drifting out of the 3v3 position I'll call it, if I didn't see that, it happens as I'm on my own, like 99% of the games this year, that's how it'll be.

Hand did take a dig, I walked the lad off to the side of the pitch, but you must have missed that bit.

I look forward to the new season and the new rules, but if you ask an opinion on it then complete ditch it, why ask?

When you're involved in the game it's not watching, it's participating .

When I said was it Louth /wexford or Monaghan. I didn't mention UU because I knew you were the ref!

Like i said, I don't consider being involved the same as being an observer.

I didn't completely ditch! I tired to explain that I thought it was unfair to ask you as a club ref to do the game. Compare what we had the week before in David Gough and its night and day! County refs are held to a higher standard and rightly so!

In my attempt to be nice and say it was difficult for you but we appreciated that you were able to help rather than be rude and say "you were not up to the level and was obvious as a player that it was your first time". You didn't like it.

You got ratty, got the hump up, thought you got in right , put your ego ahead of the actual appreciation within the post and came out with cheap comments like "your heads lit"

If you think you done well in that game then I'm afraid to say it's the pot calling the kettle black when it comes to "lit"

What you could have said was, "yeah it was my first go, it was an experience and I thought I done alright but like everyone else it'll get better"

But no, you had to get snarky!
And btw it's not your judgement, it's the rules. Only the captain or nominated person can speak to the ref! It's not your judgement if you want to apply that or not. Otherwise similar to what happened v UU we get a completely different set of rules one week to the next and no ones sure!

For reference you can look at the FAQs under decent:

Q. I am not the team captain, or the team nominated deputy, but I don't know why the referee gave a free against me – surely, I can ask them why did they make that decision?

A. If you do, you will concede a free kick, and the ball will be advanced 50m. The team captain, or a nominated deputy, are the only players on a team that can speak to the referee to seek clarification of a decision made by the referee and they can only do so during a break in play.


If you want these rules to work then you need and your colleagues need to enforce them

I never, I said i appreciated it. You reacted with your"heads lit"

But those are opinions right? And either of us can be wrong on that so let's put that to the side.

The facts are that it's not a judgement call, it's not a grey area, it's a rule not open to interpretation or judgement....

Jesus fella, read the post! I said i didn't want to be rude and say that.

I acknowledged the effort, set out the standard is different, said I thought it was unfair but greatful he could help.

It's not reflective of MR ability to ref at club level. He don a job and AGAIN we are thankful he was able to do it otherwise there'd be no game! Don't start misleading folk with giving sound bites

This is getting silly, I responded to your post which you deleted after you questioned my performance, that's when I said your head is lit, uou took the 'hump' first you were the one that asked about had anyone watched the games.

You didn't like the response threw out that the ref wasn't competent and was unfair on me to be asked, I'll say no the next time. You are going to send me the video, classy. Then go on about Gough did a game and he was brilliant, was there linesmen and umpires at these other games?

As I said I'll look forward to the feed back from the board/supporters on how the 'professional' refs do this year when they are all mic'd up with 8 officials on board.
