Quote from: clarshack on October 20, 2024, 06:08:42 PMConditions turned quite a bit earlier therefore the correct call was made to postpone the games. Do feel for the U-16 Final players though as they don't get to be part of County Final day with their game now fixed as a stand alone for Tuesday night.

I agree things weren't as bad as previously thought but Sludds made the call just to be safe so wont have a bad word said about him in the future, even if he keeps Gary Gormley on as a Ref in 2025

Great to see my team "Derrylaughan Kevin Garrys" pick up some silverware again brilliant championship campaign id say the hardest game this year has been Clogher, even in the league we only won by a single point, very impressed so hope they get out of that slurry pit of a division next year

Good to see my team "Clogher" getting a positive mention after a tough year.
Two complete battles in the league and champo with Gary Gormley picking up man of the match with 47 point contributions.
We won't talk about the reserve champo though - Odhran Corrigan only woke up about 15 minutes in and we were already 80 behind   ;D

Can't see past Trillick. I nearly hope they do it - I think they'd be well primed for St Eunan's / Cargin to set up an Ulster semi final with Glen, but that is well down the track it'll be full focus on Friday night for now.

Derrylaughan maybe a bit unfortunate they could be in with Ballinderry and then you have the joke shop that is Cavan sending in Arva and Knockbride to intermediate and junior - so I'd say DKB and Killeeshil maybe up against it.

Have you seen who'll represent Kerry in Intermediate??

A lot of chat about Derrylaughan playing Ballinderry but will they beat Termon first? The Donegal champs are no mugs

And if they do win that, Ballymena are as strong a representative as Antrim has had at any grade since St Enda's won an Ulster Intermediate in 2018. 3rd in Antrim Division 1 this year and a good smattering of county players.

3rd in division 1 🤣. Maybe it's time for us to start sending teams down to compete since everyone else seems to be at it

Most counties don't link their leagues to championship grading.

Keep it the way it is makes it all the more meaningful when you win something and keep it straight knock out as the way it always should be other counties will see that Tyrone have it right

It might mean we don't see a Tyrone club win a senior club all Ireland but if they did what a win that would be

Will the new rules come into play for club football 2025?

Ballymena ended up in intermediate as an anomaly. Dunloy got to senior championship final last year and got relegated to division 3. The structures changed to similar allignment to Tyrone but rather than boot dunloy to intermediate they allowed them to stay senior and ballymena ended up in intermediate.

The standard between antrim and tyrone at club level is enormous. Ballymena would probably match a top tyrone junior team.

imtommygunn

Ballymena are not an anomaly - they didn't win intermediate in antrim last year and if the leagues hadn't been restructured they'd have been in division 2. The anomaly is they won it so easy because the restructuring in antrim diluted the intermediate championship. (Also they were missing their 2 best players last year who are way better than anything in antrim at that level).

The gap at club level is generally huge though. Tyrone champions , assuming they beat Donegal champions, would probably expect to beat Ballymena I imagine. Donegal champions usually not easy beat either but Tyrone seem to have as high as standard at intermediate as anyone.

All Saints would hump most Tyrone intermediate teams ffs

Very new to the forum but I hope to see a good open game tonight, Hope to see Trillick win it however, it's very hard to rule out Errigal despite not looking like their usual selves.

Not so sure about coalisland here. Omagh and Trillick both won as many championships in the 2010's. Your so called 'team of the decade' took the biggest pumping in a county final in 40+ years right bang in the middle of that decade.
