From the Bunker

Great mix of games for Shamrock Rovers. Chelsea away the plumb tie. You'd expect Chelsea will rest a lot of key players in the group stage.

Larne away shouldn't have any crowd trouble?

TNS will be a interesting Derby.

The new format is up and running then.  Bayern made a bit of a mockery of it but I suppose that could have happened in any year and time will tell on competitiveness. Villa really had it quite handy too winning 3 nil and another 2 ruled out. These 2 play each other next.

That's a good win away to Milan for Liverpool.  Never an easy place to go.

You'd have to fancy Celtic and City wins tonight.

Aye, the European super league has started, but under a  different name , and nobody seemed to notice

That's not really the case, as there are still alot of mediocre teams in the competition as Villa/Bayern scores last night would support.

I actually find the new format rather refreshing rather than having to watch the City's, Bayern's of this world hammer the same team mediocre teams twice in the group.

Also entry is not set in stone, otherwise we'd have the likes of Utd, Spurs and Chelsea in it without having earned it.

Yes European super league was a pure elitism of a competition. Not sure what we needed for these UEFA competitions was more group games.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

What rules will change (that fans would allow) that will turn it into the Super League you are getting at?

Manchester City midfielder Rodri was asked what is the optimum number of games a player should be expected to play in a season: "From my experience I can tell you that 60 or 70 - no. Between 40 and 50 is the amount of games in which a player can perform at the highest level. After that you drop because it is impossible to sustain the physical level.

"This year we are maybe going to go until 70 or maybe 80. In my humble opinion, I think it is too much.

"Someone has to take care of us because we are the main characters of this, let's say, sport, or business, whatever you want to call it.

on whether players will go on strike over the expanded football calendar. "I think we're close to that. It's the general opinion of the players, and if it keeps this way, we'll have no other option. I really think it's something that worries us. We are the guys who suffer."

"Not everything is about money or marketing. It is about the quality of show. In my opinion, when I am not tired I perform better. If people want to see better football then we need to rest."
