Quote from: Derry Man on August 14, 2024, 03:01:13 PMPlayers obviously want him back & have done since last year, difficult subject alright but where do you draw the line? RG obviously has had some heinous accusations thrown his way but unfortunately the GAA is littered with proven scumbags, didn't hear the same outrage when Gleeson took over Antrim, Hayes & Gillane on the Limerick team, Rian O'Neill, our own centre forward etc. Also Tyrone ones have some cheek considering what a lot of their former players & managers have done (don't remember Tyrone ladies going on strike around 2013)

Let's set a standard.

Derry's reputation isn't great at the moment with this, McFaul and a former player and his wife throwing fists.

Agree. Also add to that a player standing on a lads ankle this year who has previous history.

Wildweasel74

Former player and Wife throwing fists. Lads a club player, never played Senior for Derry.

Have said previously on this thread the issue is there are no available, proven, high-quality manager/coaches available (aside from MOR who I would assume doesn't want it this time around either).

That aside, my opinion is that Derry GAA are under no obligation to bring him back. It's not like he's in post and there's pressure to get him out. They have the choice to leave it in the past. Bringing him back is a very poor look, imo.

Seeing a lot on Twitter about how 'he has the wains' and 'look at his ex-wife now' - some would do well to think about how years of abuse such as that that were alleged would affect them/their family members.

I appreciate the innocent until proven guilty side of it, but equally I believe that, particularly in cases of DV (and other VAWG cases), the justice system doesn't always do its job.

So for them reasons whether he's guilty, innocent or whatever else, I just don't see why its worth the risk (bar the lack of other options)

.....

Yes an irrelevant player that didn't make it but still did play and still mentioned in the news reports. Derry GAA is in the gutter

Bit vague that 🤷 you'll find Tyrone ones couldn't care less if Gallagher goes back to Derry or not... isn't our problem.

Says it all that you don't have a clue what I'm referring to.

Would imagine very few people have a clue what you are talking about. I take it you are in support of gallagher returning then in the open of winning an AI. You say gaa is full of scumbags however very few of them would have an alleged wife beater with a clear anger issue and a convicted fellon with an assault and battery charge in the same team.

Quote from: quit yo jibbajabba on August 14, 2024, 11:18:41 AMSeems like a few tyronies, who couldn't wait for the downfall of Harte now can't wait for the outrage the RG return will get

Maybe grow a set and tell us what you're referring to.

Referring to Hartes character witness statement if I'm correct

Of which there was plenty of outrage about at the time so I have no idea what he's on about. It's also nowhere near the same level.
