I have some sympathy with the peelers in this instance. It is a tractor and they should be insured against theft. Are they really going to dedicate resources to looking round the country for a tractor?

What a stupid post.

This is the man who objects to compensation for Magdalene Laundry victims on the basis of 'where will it all end?'. We shouldn't be surprised he sees theft of personal property as a victimless crime.
No it isn't....

Of course it isn't.

Why are you attacking me muppet? I didn't say the theft was a victimless crime. I don't think it is realistic for every theft to have a team of detectives chasing it down.

Also throw up a quote where I said "where will it all end". I may well have done but if you are going to throw accusations around do the legwork.

That chap in Loughgall could hoke it out. Sounds like it is being made very easy for the thieves. There are trackers, immobilisers, security lights and cameras available.

The brother in law installoed lights and cameras last year and it is a great job as it generates an alarm to his iPhone from which he can remotely view the camera feed.
This yoke apparently taken in broad daylight. As Gustavo Fring said, hide  in plain sight.

After I reported the theft of an item of equipment recently I had several neighbours tell me that they had also stuff stolen. None of them even bothered phoning the cops.. The tractors are high profile thefts but they are only the tip of the iceberg. Things like heating oil are being taken every day and the cops dont give a shite.. Half a mile from me a girl had her full tank of heating oil taken twice inside ten day.. 600 gals >:( the police wouldnt even come out! She contacted a local paper and the cops arrived. apparently the paper rang them for some stats and embarrassed them. They hung around for 30 mins no prints done no dna no interviewing the neighbours basically they just covered their asses. I cant understand why the police cant carry out  sting operations and catch these scum.

What, have a cop manning every oil tank in the country? Put one on every farm and house too. Would be a good way of creating jobs.

The company I work for had a tractor, bowser and digger all stolen last winter from a site in south Armagh, all fitted with trackers. The cops didn't want to know a thing about it despite the trackers still being active and showing exactly where the stuff was. Left it up to ourselves to go and get it back which was a hairy enough day out.

What's 3600?
And you honestly expect cops to look for / test DNA for oil theft?
