I see Mullane has said he would have come back for the Kilkenny game if he'd been asked. I don't think Michael Ryan will be thanking him for saying that. I suppose Loughnane's comments riled him into saying it but imo he has nothing to prove and it would have been better for the management and squad if he'd said nothing.

Why would Ryan ask him back though? Mullane had made his decision earlier on in the year, Ryan had his squad training all through the winter and then to parachute Mullane in at the expense of who?
May have caused Ryan problems further on down the line..

As for Loughnanes comments on Canning, Ger Lock, just trying to be controversial as usual, Canning double marked yet again and the galway supporting cast missing in action, he can't carry the whole team..

Mullane has given his backing to Donal Og and there's some speculation that himself and Eoin Kelly might come back if the right man came in. I have no idea how plausible that is but it will be interesting to see what happens there. It would be awesome to see Mullane back.

I think it'll be interesting to hear what he has to say though. Fair play to the players for acting early and it shows some real ambition on their part after what most of us thought was a decent year for them.

With Kelly there's only so many times you can blame the manager, he'd a similar fall out with Davy and IIRC he fell out with Mount Sion and transferred away from them.

Not sure what Ryan hopes to achieve by putting his name forward again as it seems at least 2/3rds of the current panel met in a hotel and wanted rid of him. Why put yourself through that shít?

Mullane, from what I'm being told could be back with a different manager in place, who that may be is another story.

Waterford have had some pretty good U-21 teams of recent, getting a man sent off this year cost them against a very strong Clare team and lest not forget the previous Clare AI winning team also only beat Waterford by the skin of their teeth, coupled with a very decent minor team this year, I'd say Waterford hurling could experience an upturn in fortunes in the next few years if they can keep the in-fighting to a minimum..

Would agree with this - he was instrumental in McCarthy getting the bullet as the players felt there wasn't enough structure and tactics,  he didn't get on with Davy as there was too much structure and tactics and then he fell out with Ryan as he wouldn't commit to the training

I think there's scope for a resolution to this. The meeting which saw the vote of no confidence in Ryan is looking like a crock. Eleven players get together on the day of a big match for the county in Croke Park and ring people until they get enough votes to form a small majority willing to get rid of Ryan? Please. This can't be allowed to stand. Maybe it'll all end in Ryan leaving, but I think it'll be after a proper showdown with those who oppose him rather than this farce of a vote.
