I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

He was sloppy in the first round. Campbell's straight Jab was catching him everytime. Pity it took him a whole round to wise to it.

Ah well. Another medal. Is that Ireland's entrants all done?
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

I see the Chinese lad that beat Paddy B went on to win gold, how close was Paddy to a gold medal. I have to say I was more gutted by Paddys defeat than John Joes.

Now all we have to look forward to is Pink Floyd at the closing ceremony.
I'm gonna show you as gently as I can how much you don't know.

Nothing wrong with a Silver medal, felt sorry for him in the interview.
Read the other day the Gold medal is something like 90% Silver anyway so his Silver will be worth almost as much up in Hammond Lane!

There goes my plan to open a Cash For Gold shop in Mullingar.

If you target John Joe's folks you might do alright!

I thought Campbell won every round.

I'd have to disagree, i scored the first as the judges 5-3, I thought John Joe won the second by 2 if not 3. Overall though he perhaps was a bit too confident and relied on reflexes too much - Campbell kept higher guard and that was one of differences.

Good middleweight scrap, very harsh warning against the Brazilian was decisive, think he can justifiably feel very hard done by - would have won it without the warning.

Fair play John Joe, you did yourself your family and your country proud tonight. You go home with a silver medal that not many thought you would win. Well done.

Not only did the boxers do us proud, but all the Irish competitors gave it they're all, and many of them are very close to the top in certain events.

Plus, well done to the lads from Coleraine who brought home medals, and hard luck to Wendy who was robbed of taking home a gold. (although i'm secretly happy that the Derry wans don't have that to slag us with next time we meet....)

I have really enjoyed this Olympics and have a renewed respect to all the competitors who give up so much and put in years of work to reach this far.

Plus, the reception the Irish competitors received incredible support from the minute they entered the stadium on the opening night, and right through to tonight.

It sure has been some summer of sport, and with the bad weather, there is no guilt in sitting in front of the TV watching it all...........

next stop, September 10, for number 4......

under the bar

how come the 4 x 100m relay WR averages at a 9.2 sec run while the 100m WR is 9.58?

3 of them are running when they get the baton?

3 running starts and cross over metres but surely someone as clever as you would have realised that.

There is a handover area of about 10 yards where the runners pass over the baton and both are running in at the same time
Do they start running before their start line? Didn't know that. In saying that, I haven't watched a pile of it.

On the contrary I thought John Joe wasn't confident enough. I think he froze a bit on the night and didn't get the best out of himself.

Take your points - all you need know is that thus was printed in the Sunday Independent and is therefore almost certainly total shite. You can know this before you even read it.
