Quote from: Na Glinntí Glasa on January 22, 2026, 08:33:20 AMThe Glenariffe/Glenravel project has worked well at under age, especially for Oisins as they will benefit at at adult level more with the success they have had.

There was a good few good hurlers from Glenravel in that amalgamation team so you can only hope they get to see the rewards from it as well at senior level.

Oisins will find the first year tough going but with teams missing county players in the league series they will pick up wins i don't doubt.

Interesting though at U12 level Glenariffe ploughed their own way in 2025 whereas previously they had been amalgamated with Cushendall up to U14 level as Gael Na Glinti. They seem to have enough numbers to push on themselves so you might see them ending the amalgamations at underage and go their own way without Cushendall & Glenravel.

My sources tell me that it was Cushendall that pulled the plug on Gael Na Glinti as they'd young lads on the bench not getting much game time. I'd presume they were younger kids though, but can't be sure.

Is U12 in North Antrim 15 aside?

It isn't in Down and we can get the 11 out OK, but we know we're really going to struggle to get 15 on the pitch come U14 and beyond in the next few years and that's including all boys in the four calendar years that will be eligible.

No new houses in the parish for quite a while now and that's having an impact big style.

Glenariffe had full panels at this age group (more than 15 players) pre the amalgamation. Could never understand what was in it for them and why they decided to pair up when they didnt need too.

To be honest it served them well as they were winning all around them. When you have trophies coming year after year you wont find many voices against that amalgamation within the clubs.

Never understood how they were allowed to amalgamate at the start whenever they fielded two sides one year. How can you field two teams and need to amalgamate with another club? Anyway thats done and gone now.

Always made me laugh when you seen both clubs saying they were county champions whenever they won one lol you cant have it both ways when you're an amalgamation club  ;D

But its def done well for Glenariffe when you see the progress of the young lads up to senior level. Hopefully they do well in the first year and can build on it.

Sour grapes there?

Quote from: NorthAntrimSaff on January 11, 2026, 07:03:33 PMI neither agree or disagree with you here. Im not sure of the correct answer here or how Antrim/a club disapline a player who is disaplined through the correct manner and brought before the courts and punished accordingly.

I noticed you have 14 posts and 10 of them are directly linked to this case though. Im not sure venting your frustration in a forum really achieves anything. Possibly airing your concerns with secretart/county rep and bringing it to attention at a higher level instead of on here?

Couldn't agree more.
Antrim or the GAA itself would have to give a response.

It was yourself in a previous post that stated it's not a good move for Antrim GAA which I was replying to.

Sorry that's crossed wires.

Your right I don't think it's a good move but i also think that if you were to write to Antrim or the GAA they'd have to give a response . That's what I meant by couldn't agree more

Who would you write to? The Chairman?

If a player has stopped playing for their local club, or if a student living 80 odd miles from home what's the harm?

More people playing the better..

Let's encourage more people hurling

Why would we encourage people to play hurling? you wise?? Make the players travel back to their own clubs no matter how far away they are!

I hope so. Horrendous what he did and makes even more hard to take that he was poster boy for the county.

Stephen Magill was cargin senior camogie manager. Were the others involved in camogie before?

One of them did and there was some controversy from what I hear. Suprised he got another underage job.

The SW is the heart of antrim football and Toome is the heart of the SW.

Could be a game changer for antrim support

Aslong as Celtic aren't playing at the same time.

+1 This no way to behave, I am surprised the committee didn't head this off especially given the circumstances. By all means review the season and learn from mistakes.
Some players really can be a self entitled bunch of cnuts and are the root of the problem imo.

Depends if some of the committee knew about the meeting or not. 🤔

I get what some will say about them and the number of players they have from other clubs but would it be right in saying they have been there before their home clubs started ladies football?

They have players from Cargin, Tir Na nOg, Newbridge & Ahoghill in the panel. I know a lot of them seem to have been there for a long time.

Its a bit like Cushendall in the camogie who have players from Carnlough, Glenariffe, Cushendun & Larne in their panels - some of these have no option other than to go there or have been there since underage when their home club didnt have a set up.

One of their best players moved from Naomh Congall in Antrim ?

That was down to a disagreement within the Antrim Town club as far as I know.

Isn't that always the way  ;D

Always.
