I haven't read all the thread so if I am making a point which is already made then, apologies!

Media bans on players is maybe a good thing, players interviews in the papers or tv before or after a match are awful. I'm yet to come across anyone with the slighest bit of personality or charisma. The same old cliches are heard every sunday on tv or every day coming up to a match in the papers. They are embarrasing to read or listen to.

I remember westmeath-at the time were div 4 beating the div 1 toppers in the quarters. Brought a bit of excitement to it. A link with the championship would bring  abit of cutting to it.
and reigning all ireland champions (at the time)

Yeah I remember that match - also remember hearing strong rumours that a member(s) of the derry team had a big bet on westmeath to beat them......interesting!

All four games are on TG4 - two on saturday and two on sunday. I think Minder is right and it's half four on saturday.

Good Christ, that was grim on many levels. Don't know where to start but McKeever putting the ball over the end line while trying to toe tap while under no pressure was for me the lowlight of this game.

Donegal are going to eat us.

Couldn't agree more only seen the 2nd half but i was so disapponted with Antrim. That incident you mentioned with no 12 just shouldn't be seen in an inter county match. Antrim wouldn't get near anyone else in ulster.

GAA Discussion / Re: Adrian Logan leaves UTV
April 24, 2009, 11:05:55 PM
Whats Adrian Logan at involving solicitors just because he's been made redundant - there are lots of more unfortunate people and families who have lost jobs over the past year due to the struggling economy. Its nobody's fault, every business needs to cut its cloth accordingly. Logan should be thankful for the years of employment and thank the UTV for giving him the platform to increase his public profile to enable him to charge the big fee's to compere club gala dinners. I'm sure over the years he done very well out of them.

Making a claim against the UTV doesn't show him in a good light and is just a reflection of the 'claim' culture in northern ireland, there no better than benfit fraudsters who have never done a days work in their lives.

GAA Discussion / Re: Dublin v Kerry
March 30, 2009, 11:49:29 PM
Haven't seen Kerry play so poorly for a long long time. When I saw the teams I put a 'few' pounds (sterling) on Kerry to win and got my fingers burnt! I think Kerry must of got demotivated when they seen the dublin team sheet and thought they would win easy. They were so lethargic and played so sloppily! Their play was so slow and laboured. I remember walsh running with the ball over the 45 in the first half and he was barely jogging, you see more pace in a training match.

The tommy mcguigan incident was much to do about nothing and the over the top comments made by bias derry supporters are exactly that. When McGuigan released the ball SML continued to be in his face trying to get a reaction from him instead of going straight to the ball on the ground which I think he was supposed to be wanting. McGuigan shouldn't have raised he knee but there wasn't much momentum behind it. It was a definate yellow card maybe even a sending off going on the fickle new rules but McGuigan's no 'filthy tr"£p as some people have said. What did SML do as soon as the knee made contact....look at the ref to make sure he seen it then go down making more of it than he needed to. Though maybe in SML's defence thats the way all players behave these days? GAA heads who think their game is so manly and tut at the soccer stars rolling about when they've hardly been touched have to fave facts that GAA is FOLLOWING this soccer trend rather than following rugby players....

Antrim / Re: Antrim Football Thread

It must be a little frustrating for true antrim gaels to see players of the calibre of jc mcgourty not playing for antrim following on from his older brother and Sean Kelly etc When your trying to make progress and take your team to the next level its a big help if you have your best players available.
From the outside looking in, Kevin McGourty appears to be a complete tosser with a serious attitude problem, he maybe thinks he'll get talked about more if he doesn't play than if he did, because he isn't as good as he would like you to believe. That clip on youtube of CJ prankin Frank Delargy tells you all you need to know about him, fair enough playing a joke but pretending to be disabled with with a speech problem is a scummy arrogant thing to be at and an insult to real people with these problems. Who would ring their manager in the middle of the night and call him a Derry W"£$%R, some humility, manners and class are easily carried.

Tyrone / MOY

How can a team comprising of the two cavanagh's, philly Jordan and Ryan Mellon not win an intermediate championship? I've never watched any tyrone football but all four played a big part in the final against Kerry yet.... Fill me in, are the rest of the panel very poor or do the county players not play as well for their club??

Trained under John a few years back and didn't get on with him at all. He tended to take 90% of the training which was shit. Players had a meeting when things got so bad and decided they wanted mickey to take the training as it was far more enjoyable and results improved thereafter. Mickey will never 'split up' with John but he should if he wants to achieve anymore in the game. He could 'COACH' an All Ireland team no problem. He's not a No1 and never will be. WOuld love to see Mickey join up with a top manager and achieve what he has the ability to achieve.
