The village in Co Tyrone that is full of cowboys
A Co Tyrone village is to be transformed into the Wild West in a fundraising event in honour of its most famous sporting son, the late Cormac McAnallen.
It will be a case of exchanging the football boots for cowboy boots as Eglish St Patrick's GAA club hosts a Wild West Night on September 7, boasting country and western music, line-dancing, a barbecue, rodeo bull riding and rifle ranges.
All proceeds will go towards the club's goal of developing a second football field - Pairc Chormaic - in honour of the Tyrone captain who died three years ago at the age of 24 from an undetected heart condition.
The new pitch will provide an additional training facility for a burgeoning club that has over 10 teams playing football and camogie.
Cormac's former Tyrone and Eglish colleague Brendan Donnelly and camogie player Claire Ogle are two of six 'pardners' squaring up for the honour of being declared 'the biggest cowboy in Eglish'!
Competing Butch Cassidys and Calamity Janes will vie for votes by riding a bucking bronco machine and performing a special party piece before the winner - with the greatest amount of money raised - is declared.
