Too slow in attack and with kick outs. No fight in that side either

Surely going to be a serious slog for Slaughtmanus from now until the end of the year. Hammered by Eoghan Rua tonight and only scoring an average of 10 points per game and conceding almost 30.

I think the refereeing situation in the county needs addressed. Most weeks we are seeing referees do reserve and senior games. What happens the senior game if the ref gets injured in the reserve game and is unable to do the second game? Also Dungiven vs Ballinderry seriously delayed yesterday as no ref turned up for the senior game.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Bottle, that's what it came down to today. Monaghan's big players stood up and some of ours went into hiding. The pile on for Baker is uncalled for. He does a solid but jot spectacular job and that's what you need your corner back to be doing. I'd be more worried about some of the "bigger names" and what they contributed from half time onwards

Quote from: Brendan on April 19, 2026, 10:13:45 PMRef shortage getting no better, heard a number of refs done both senior and reserve today

Heard this myself. On one hand fair play to the refs who done both games as I'm sure they could have easily said no to one of the games. On the other hand I feel we are only a couple of years away from games being cancelled due to no refs.

Looking at the current age of some of the referees we have you have to wonder how much longer they will do it for.

Going by the results there was no real shocks this week. Plenty of draws in Division 1. I think as division 2 goes on it'll be a real struggle for some of the teams

Comfortable enough game, on another day the goals column would have looked completely different. Wouldn't read anything into today's performance but Murray looked sharp. McGuigan doesn't look at full confidence but hopefully today's tally will help him. Never really got out of second game and no obvious injury concerns so we will take that and move on

Derry very lucky today, if Down's keeper had his head in the game they'd have had every chance of a victory. It was very telling a member of the management team was telling the keeper to get his head up as they emerged from the tunnel at half time

Anyone know what the craic is with under 14s in the county? I watched a match tonight, completely one sided but both management teams insisted on playing 15 vs 15 on a full size pitch. My understanding was it was 13m line to 13m line with smaller goals or am I mistaken.

Quote from: bennydorano on October 08, 2024, 11:47:36 AMI got an email from my Car Insurance provider (Privilege), saying I'm due some sort of refund, fairly vague on details but stated a letter will follow. Obvious red flags, never in my day have I heard of this?? Waiting on the post with bated breath!

Could be a scam?

Don't give your details until you're 10o% sure.

Just in case, ask for cheque.
Got refunded £23 odds OK. Still no real idea why

Got something similar, but it was £286. Insurance company said I'd been overcharged in each of the last three years. Was posted a cheque and all communication was through post rather than electronic.

I work in the industry and it seems some underwriters haven't applied the correct percentage to the no claims discounts over previous years and are now issuing clients refunds. They'll be vague to tell you why but that's the reason.

Also shop around folks. From a compliance point of view brokers have to give you the best price they have based on the current details and the price from your current provider. Then if you speak with them they may be able to amend details or apply discounts to compete with other companies.

Don't get me wrong the pricing is horrendous especially for home insurance

Quote from: Ryan O on October 13, 2025, 09:35:10 PMIn relation to the referees in the county, there's some good young refs coming through but do they ever get chance at decent game. 2 weeks ago you had Barry Cassidy doing the u14A final, Harry Tohill and Maurice Corrigan the two U16A semi -finals, no disrespect to these men but do they need to be doing them, maybe go as lineman and keep the new lads right if needed.

Surly these young referees should be
getting these type of games, decent crowds  proper championship and good standard, instead they're getting a intermediate/junior reserve game.
I get there is egos and a percentage of prestige involved but County Board need to push young refs to the front.

I'd have to agree with this post, in a few years time we are going to be relying on these younger referees a lot and have a severe shortage if the current trend continues

Quote from: BigBallSmallBall on October 10, 2025, 10:29:59 PMJust home from the JFC Semi Final in Owenbeg tonight Moneymore Vs Doire Trasna. Exciting game of football! But the main talking point is the - Referee lost total control of the game and could have ended very nasty. Think the County Board need to act on this, as the standard of Derry referees has never been as low.

I think that's being harsh, I was also at the game, and I thought that the referee had a good game. Not sure how he can control a Moneymore player running into the entire Doire Trasna team at the end of full time which led to a schmozzle and both teams losing a player.

You'll also find the CEO was sent off for his part in this as well which is why he watched the remainder of the match from behind the net at the Road end.

How many other counties CEO would be sent off at a junior championship semi-final?

Great game last night in Owenbeg in the under 16 championship. Bellaghy stealing a win at the end
