Not always do they play so late in the year.

Depends on who's top of the tree, whos won championships and finally how far they go

Trillick for example won both and done well in ulster therefore it was delayed because they wanted it to be....

Errigal didn't care about the league so played a dummy team in the semi meaning the league fix's weren't held up a great lot

Tyrone have changed there's again to take into consideration what you have mentioned ....go look to it! helps address some issues

star games (no county players permitted only worth 2 points)
It require some innovation exactly what antrim need as a dual county (MR2 correct)

Glad a lot of you muppets are eating your words today, better team won in the end but all you faceless clowns keep coming for us from behind your keyboards! Booom!! upa saffs

They have certainly had a coach/manager who was due to be paid either by the club directly  or via team "fundraising". I've  no problem  with clubs paying managers/coaches- as long as they are improving teams, but some of the money that is being paid out is ridiculous, often with very little impact.

You'd hardly pay the coaches they have ffs none have been a success at any level

same as l the other bluffers. Why not go and spend on decent coaches? They, like so many others will never win anything because they don't have the capability to do so with their own

Kevin Madden at least has the brass neck to go and bluff away from his door step

Is a cargin man complaining about paying out money to managers?
Pot kettle black
Yes Cargin, like every single other club in Ireland pay their manager lol,
I actually have no problem with paying a manager, but when he leaves you in a worse place than when he arrived that's my issue.

Every other club in Ireland nonsense
Rossa and St Paul's Davitts O Donnells don't and I'm sure there are more
Different in South west

Rossa don't but will pay coaches
St Paul's where one of the first to in antrim
Ods have
St Galls have
Bidies have
LD did pay ramsey

St John's prob only club not to have paid coaches but they have missed the boat over the last 20 years. They are no worse off compared to other belfast teams but thats because they are still crap like the others

Quote from: erinsboy on March 15, 2025, 05:30:14 PMThis 16 team division one is a complete farce! We shouldn't be seeing results like this from teams in the "same division"
Creggan 6-25
St Paul's 0-01

And I think there could be plenty more results like this with the stronger clubs out early this year with lots of challenge games already under their belt getting used to the new rules.

The Ahoghill score line reinforcing this, it's not good for either club and the new rules are going to open games up for stronger teams. The county needs to move to 4 divisions for football, introduce junior B and allow credible reserve teams into the league structure.

A separate issue is players not being available for county and this distorting structure but not sure what if anything can be done about that

great post bar the last bit "not available for county"

Andy's gone after this year!

first round will be under the original rule enhancements and not as part of the amendments made this week

likely to play at least two rounds as is given that each county must meet to decide if they bring in the changes or not, so the break between game 2 and 3 would make sense

Not going away.
Antrim are right to take this stance I'm behind it. Ulster GAA are a disgrace this 13 years.
BUT, Andy in that interview looks so content he has avoided this fixture and more importantly for him the hype takes the heat off him for what has so far been a dismal few years, and we unfortunately are getting no bang for our buck!

you clearly don't know the man! that's his approach to almost all interviews

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on February 27, 2025, 04:18:38 PMThere is no consistency because the rules have changed so much since this has started

But hey ho lets just stick to zero tolerance, any vocal dissent of any kind from the pitch to the sideline will be met with a 50m free

2 weeks away from the fireworks

Can a free be given for dissent if no foul is given?

if someone see's a challenge as a foul that the ref doesn't give and that person gives verbal abuse to the ref can the ref give a free?

Or is it only dissent after fouls?

You could always stop play give a yellow card and depending on who had the ball either give it a hop ball or non direct free. But think I heard one's saying frees can be overturned? Again from games I've done or watched it's changed from one ref to the next, and that's on the national stage

dissent is a foul and a 50m mark

no ifs or buts of maybes

when a player gives off to a ref, even if he's right in what he might be screaming, then it's dissent and it's a free

i can't see why any ref would not be in favour of this rule and look for reasons as to not enforce the rules as stated

it's shows the bias that goes on and the lack of consistency in truth and that's not a dig MR2

everyone has their own bias
