Anyone giving Galway a sniff of a chance tomorrow?

This Limerick don't lose finals (other than penalties) and are a fantastic team who are probably at the other side of their peak but only just.

Galway come into this with a bit of good form from their last 2 Croke Park outings and with a tried and tested game plan that Cork couldn't break through.

Limerick are a different beast to Cork and aren't reliant on getting balls into their full forward line to get scores and like Galway will take shots from way out the field. Galway could afford to push out a bit more v Limerick but they won't at first to get a foothold in the game.
Who they put out on Hegarty for puck outs may be key to them stopping the Limerick team from clicking.
For Galway to succeed they will need to keep firing over a very high percentage of their shots from the likes of Tom Monaghan etc and prevent the Limerick half forwards from dominating that area.

For me I'd give Galway a better chance of getting the win than I would have given Tipp winning last year and we know how that turned out.   

I think Galway have a chance. Limerick don't play for 70 minutes. Galway's shooting is high and they can work on accuracy. In the League game they were c 10 points down with 20 to go and outscored Limerick by 9 to 1 to finish 2 behind. They have great energy.

A huge task for our lads today.  Will require above what we produced against Cork and Limerick have steel and class in abundance.  We are there on merit and not without a chance but an awful lot will need to fall for us I feel.  Safe travels to everyone agus Gaillimh abú 🇶🇦

Very sad news coming out of Galway today.
Paul Clancy has passed away at the age of just 49.
Quality player and an absolute gentleman.
Brother in law of the late Don Connellan.
RIP PC

Terribly sad news indeed.  A wonderful footballer and a real driving force within the Moycullen club.

That's some draw. Hard to call any of them fixtures. Football championship the gift that keeps on giving this year.

Happy to be on the outside, looking in next weekend, that's for sure.  Was happy enough with how we played yesterday bar the last 3 - 4 mad cap minutes.  Left a few scores after us for sure so plenty to tidy up before a quarter final.  A pretty clean bill of health for the squad also, which has not been the case the last few years.  Getting Thompson back would be a huge addition. 

Congrats to the Rossies, strong finish and had all the momentum at the right time.  Kick a few very good scores to win it.  Plenty of positives for Galway with many injured lads on the way back.  However, also plenty of questions as usual around team selection (that started) game management and kick-outs. 

Moycullen vs Salthill Knocknacarra final here in Galway in Pearse Stadium @ 7.30pm on Sat evening.

Moycullen looking to avoid 3 final defeats in a row since their last win in 2022 and Salthill looking for their first senior title since 2012.

John Maher's absence through injury will be a huge loss for Salthill and coupled with Peter Cooke's return for Moycullen will see them start as favourites this weekend.

Its Caltra vs An Spidéal in the Intermediate decider with Williamstown and Cárna-Cashel contesting the junior final.

Down to the last 4 in the SFC championship in Galway and no surprise with the 4 teams still standing.  Both semi finals will be a double header under the lights in Pearse Stadium on Sat, Oct 11th -

Corofin v Salthill Knocknacarra
Moycullen v Tuam Stars

Re the minor.... Galway playing Mayo on Friday. It's already decided they play each other again the following week in the semi final.
I assume the team that finishes second gets home advantage for the semi?

Regardless of the result on Fri evening, the semi final is already fixed for Castlebar the following week I believe.

When I was a very young impressionable lad, Kerry were THE team and he was THE manager of the time.  They had an aura of invincibility about them and he was some man to keep them all motivated for as long as he did.  With a small bit of luck, they could have done 9 in a row!! A loveable rogue and one of the iconic personalities of the GAA that will be forever remembered long after we are all gone.

An interesting selection from a Galway perspective.  Considering how the U19 championship played out in Galway last year, its somewhat surprising that Oranmore have no one capable of making that team.  McGlinchey is a huge loss and looks like he will be out for an extended period of time as I believe his injury is quite serious. Best of luck to Derek and the lads.

Dublin deserved winners.  Our shooting was atrocious despite hitting the woodwork on a number of occasions.  A decent runout for a few of the extended but a couple of them are not up to this level.  Hopefully none of the niggles picked up by a few lads are not too serious. 

Under the old rules Dublin and Derry would have been 7 and 8 points down. Derry would have won the game and Dublin would have drawn.

Two pointers proving a big difference and will they be kept for the championship after this trial run?

I think 2 pointers from play should be kept but I'd get rid of them for frees etc. Will probably be a few minor tweaks prior to the championship but it's a positive narrative around football at the moment so don't expect a whole pile to change really.  Championship will be the real acid test though.
