Yee can all say what yee want, and marty can do what he wants. Saying its strange isnt exactly a criticism, only a truth from my expereince that most lads from the north who play gaa wouldnt be long telling me they support ROI not NI and fairly agressively aswell. Marty is different though obviously and can live life the way he wants even if he ignores his past. I am not going to lie though was slightly disappointed reading where is allengiancies lie and his need to show it.

Why? What concern is it of yours what soccer team a fella you've presumably never met supports? Does it make him less of a player or Gael?!

To me less of a gael yes, less of a player no.

Small minded post of the day goes to.... ;)

Come on, please elaborate on why this is so. I support neither team as I don't give a toss about soccer. Am I less of a Gael for not supporting that heap of shite that calls Lansdowne Road home or more of a Gael for not supporting the similarly manure tinged team from Windsor Park?

From my memories of Bam at U16 and Minor, he was like numerous other Johnnies at the time, incredibly talented yet incredibly mouthy and incapable of playing as part of a team- never seemed to trust the talent of others. In the 2005 Minor Championship we bate them out of Corrigan by 20 odd points and I think he scored the entire Johnny total of 1-05. Was thinking about the Johnnies a few weeks ago and was wondering if Sean Rooney ever made it to their senior team?

Was in school with Eoghan Gill. Very, very good footballer. Quick, strong, skillful, with a geat pair of hands. Did a lot of running back in school so was always very fit. He went off the rails a bit on drink, didn't know he was still playing football- good to see.

Ben Johnson, The Romanian girl, and The Chinese girl who pipped Sonia O Sullivan, Michelle Smyth, are ones which spring to mind.

Dame Kelly Holmes, sweet jesus.......

PQ

Oh f**k right off with that. It all came together for Holmes after a number of seasons plagued by injury. Nothing at all do with drugs.

You don't find it odd that she'd never managed to win a global title, was considerably weaker at the 1500 than the 800, then wins both at the Olympics at th age of 34?! Like I said, Marion Jones never tested positive for drugs. God almighty, nor did Michelle Smith, but no one in their right mind would ever consider their medals to have been won in the true Olympic spirit!

QuoteFor once I'm agreeing with you Arthur.... good bit of blind faith though there nrico and absolutely nothing to do with what we're talking about.

My point is people are saying Ohourogo being hailed as a worthy champion and role model for kids is a disgrace and her achievements will forever be clouded by the fact she missed a doping test... Rio did the same yet it is never mentioned anymore? Surely United's titles and Champion's Leagues should all be clouded by the fact Rio is a cheat or is it one rule for some and another rule for others?

Why?  The reality is that Rio never tested positive for drugs, neither did Ohourogo.  But, the perception was always that Rio was, if anything, likely to be a recreational drug user as opposed to one who was using a performance enhancing substance which would likely be what Ohourogo would have taken if anything.  Both are obviously not acceptable, but in the context of fair play within sports one is obviously completely different and more serious than the other.

The reality is that Marion Jones never tested positive either. Rules are rules for a reason.

I notice that when talking about schools, he didn't mention Rathmore, possibly the most successful school in the country. Completely free and until a few years ago completely run down, the constant target of sectarian petrol bomb attacks with half its classes taking place in mobiles. Malone Road, Finaghy, Poleglass, Twinbrook, Lisburn, Crumlin- everyone sends their kids there.

The Brits are getting far too carried away over Adlington. Conratulations to her, it's a phenomenal achievement for a British swimmer, but domiating for 12 years??? Grant Hackett is the greatest distance swimmer ever and he's done after 10 years, never mind 12.
Some say he couldn't Hackett.

FFS, walked into that!

Watch the replay of Phelps's race. Phenomenal end to it, your man Cavic must be going mad!

Number 8 and immortality are surely a formality in the medley relay.

Bolt looking phenomenal in the 100m. If he doesn't crumble under pressure, the gold looks to be in the bag!

"Off the ball incident" "Got his marching orders" "Gort na Mona's Colm Keenan received a yellow for his involvement"

Ah, good to see Keeny has carried his, how can I put this, "confrontational" attitude on to senior level.

Easily the landing strip. If it's bald "turkey turkey turkey" just runs through your head constantly.
