I'm fairly sure Central Council decided at the beginning of the year to switch to penalty kicks in the 'winner of the day' scenario but free kicks were in the competition regulations hence the free kicks last night.

To be honest it's probably a good job it went to a replay because had PG1 lost and had to play without a player wrongly sent off (even if he returned when the error was realised) because a yellow card was wrongly carried into extra time then we'd probably be looking at an appeal and rightly so.

Thought PG1 were the better team in the first half and LD probably the better side over the rest of the game on balance. PG1 were much more economical in front of the posts. Looking forward to game 3! Fitzsimmons will be a loss for LD had been having a great championship.

Thought the Dub was a great venue, it's just a pity no one looked into some sort of PA in advance. There were a lot of people wondering what was happening.

How many full time coaching staff members is that Tyrone have lost in the last eight or nine months? By my count 5. Wouldn't exactly be a ringing endorsement for the working environment to have a staff turn over that high.

Add to that the number of Tyrone Academy coaches who stepped away or weren't asked back, Canavan is right- questions need asked.

Under the rules as they stand the most he could get for the finger in the mouth was one game. Two games for a stamp. Done for both. Concurrent punishments. There was never any chance of him getting any more.

Why the general move away from the minor games being on before the senior games?

Counties wanted a backdoor championship and they wanted an exam break. Minor and senior championship  no longer tied

Any word on why Kennedy was taken off and Colm was put on? Is it a coincidence that that's when Derry started getting back into the game? Colm off after we concede the goal and we win the remainder of the game 1-5 to 0-01.

Good to get the win, was not expecting to blow them away but good sign that we put down the pedal for the last 10 minutes. Derry will cause a lot of problems for all teams outside of the top 3 or 4 I believe. Could get a decent run if the draw is kind to them in qualifiers.

Kennedy had been carrying a hamstring injury into the game. Made a couple of runs into the Derry defence when he was on! Hopefully we can shake that off over the next week or two. Has serious potential for a lad just turned 21

No surprises at the top, pretty much as you expected - the demise of Clonoe has been predicted for a few years now....they are still there, one last hurrah for some? Moy look to have the house in order after a bit of a scare last year.

How do you work that out? Derrylaughan have taken 3 points from Dromore, Coalisland and Trillick. They've Errigal this week. That could be the top 4 played already.

Donaghmore lost to Omagh and Dromore and drew with Trillick. I don't think either team will be too panicked at this stage.

Similarly Eglish have played some of the top teams already. They'll want to get points soon so they don't get cut adrift

The job wasn't advertised from what I understand, hence the issues at the county executive and more than a few members feeling fairly miffed with the process or lack of a process. The county's handling of HR issues in the past year has left a lot to be desired.

Couldn't agree more.....this issue needs to be taken firmly in hand by HQ.

It has been taken in hand... they've introduced an U20 regional league that means these players will be playing more inter county football in May and June and less with their clubs...

Awful way to win or lose a championship game. I'd blame those in congress for voting in such nonsense to decide games.

Can't have it every way, complain about fixture congestion and then complain about games being finished on the day.

Final is not scheduled until December so was no need to rush and finish the game on the day.

It's a Congress decision not an Ulster GAA decision. Same applies to Provincial county championship and the qualifiers

Murnaghan was on the Tyrone Under 20 team this year and certainly didn't stand out by any stretch. I'd like to see another few performances like that before you could consider him.

Clarshack I'm almost certain that McKenna came on for Eglish against Derrylaughan last year.

Ok fair enough but we played Eglish in the 1st round the previous week. he was at the game but not togged out.

He came on for the final 15 minutes in Galbally against Derrylaughan. Wasn't listed in the programme but came on alright. Can't see him playing any part to be honest

Is Meyler all that big a loss?  Always wanted him to get a run in the team but now that he is I'm not so sure.

I know he's lined out as a wing forward on paper but he's been given some big marking jobs this year on some of the oppositions stronger ball carriers out the field and done well on most of them. He'd be the man to mark Kilkenny on my team anyway. I just can't see him being making it in terms of the injury

There's every chance that team will start. Pity about Conor Meyler (broken bone in foot or leg), but we have the replacements.

For me Burns is under the most pressure to keep his place. 2 consecutive bad days out. Meyler being ruled out and the lack of viable alternatives probably aids his cause.

Nothing like a Semi in Croke against Monaghan to bring it roaring back into life! 

I'd heard a few days after the Dublin game that Burns had picked up an injury which would explain a couple of performances where he hasn't quite been at himself. McAliskey is the one under pressure for my money but his performance against Monaghan in Omagh was his best this year so I'd say Harte will be hopeful that'll bring him back to life.

Peter Harte was given very 'close attention' in Omagh and the referee and linesmen choose to ignore it. I'd hope they'll not be as generous with Monaghan on Sunday. However given our experience with referees this year, I'll not hold my breath.

Are the grading not decided by how a team does at u13 level. Used to be the case.

U13 has changed format to something that almost resembles go games with 4 teams going to a venue to play 3 20 minute each way games, so grades for U14 are difficult to determine now.

Yes but given that Beragh won a clean sweep in Grade 3 last year with similar ease it's difficult to see what was gained playing 13 aside against teams with squads of 15 and 16 players when they had 25 fit to strip out. I don't care how bad my own clubs teams are, if they've 20 players fit to play they'll be in at least Grade 2 to give at as many lads as possible a chance to play.
