Hardly any games played so far and they're coming of the back of a period of serious partying and raking about. Soft ground. Nothing won in February/March etc...
I look at Armagh and can't help but think that they are getting their timing wrong - peaking too early maybe...hope we can pick up points from the remaining few games

I would be worried if they don't show a bit more attacking edge soon

It had to happen sometime.  Beggan would get caught out.  But it was the way it happened that he will be most sore about.  Hughes passed a half hearted ball to him and he waited on it.  Kerry nipped in and how Duffy was left one on one with Clifford with the whole half of the pitch wide open was criminal.  As hard as he tried there was only going to be one result.

It's been waiting to happen.  I'm not sure Monaghan or other teams will be just as keen to push their goalie as high up the pitch in a championship game. It's one thing the goalie playing as a sweeper but to see him solo up the pitch or look for a pass in the half forward line is a bit crazy.

It's not really that crazy if someone else covers back.

It's a ridiculous tactic, the pay off is very little and the risks are you concede a goal or a defender has to take a black or yellow to stop an attack. Lost kilmacud an all Ireland final a few weeks ago.

We had some serious chances yesterday - could have finished with 4 or 5 goals easily.

Thought Canavans movement & work rate was exceptional - he missed a few but that will come.

Burns was again outstanding - leading the team at every opportunity.

Why did Cathal not start?

He wasn't outstanding against Armagh to be honest, not a big surprise he was dropped

the world should be eternally indebted to Russia for WWII,

even the english and yanks acknowledged that,

we saved their ass  ;)

Only the victorious write the history books. World War One and World War Two were manufactured in a Manhattan board room. From cradle to grave, we are indoctrinated with lies and propaganda. When you truly understand it, you will realize these wars were actually a war on Christianity. We owe Germany a huge apology.

Imagine actually believing this

Greencastle go up, docked some points (say -6) to start the season.

Chairman. Secretary. manager and player all to be suspended

Seems a bit harsh suspending the player, he didn't put himself on

It's a stupid rule that seriously affects rural clubs, would like to see it changed back to before that a player can play when they are 17.

League fixtures can't be released until it's all sorted out and with potential appeals from greencastle and any club that is affected regarding relegation, it could mean that teams won't know who they are playing or what division they are until a few weeks before the league.

There is talk now that Killeeshil are now going to go down and aghaloo stay up, it's becoming a bit of a mess now. With 18 teams in division 2 would it not be best to keep the two up and relegate 3 this year, hard way to go down for Kileeshil if it happens.

Love how a pretty tame incident happens in a game (if gough hadn't of dished out the 4 reds no one would even be talking about it) and now everyone is saying it's a scourge of the game and we need rule changes to sort it out. The game is a contact sport, inevitably when adrenaline is high and with the nature of the sport there are going to be spill overs like what happened on Sunday, it's not a new issue 20 or 30 years ago teams done it and the players would have had no issue striking which was an issue.

It wasn't the only game last weekend with this sort of incident, but with the two ulster teams playing everyone jumps on the bandwagon and its a horrible side of the game. It's a non issue, everyone does it, as long as they aren't striking who really cares.

It's very much an issue though. You think choking an opposing player around the neck is acceptable? There are rules in place already which deems physical altercations with an opposing player as a red card and a 1 game band.

Of course its a contact sport, but not this kind of contact. Adrenaline is no excuse, spill overs do occur, hence rules in place and subsequent punishment. Every single pundit Inc Tyrone and Armagh former County men on podcasts since Sunday would completely disagree with your view

Dublin v kerry in the league 2019 and 2016 had very similar incidents if not worse, Donegal v kerry a few years ago Neill McGee tried to break a players fingers and all hell broke lose and there were also several incidents worse than this, Padraig O'hora flipped over shane walsh off the ball and effectively ended his championship last year. No one cared and it was never an issue until now as it didn't suit the narrative, I have no issue with refs if they want to send off players for that sort of stuff but there was no massive outcry for it until last weekend, and there won't be that amount of red cards handed out to any other teams this year regardless if it happens again.

Put aside rivalry, Rian O'Neill is probably the second best footballer in Ireland at the moment (behind Clifford), popped off a few points in the first half and set up several more, then in the second half when Armagh were under pressure near the end takes a serious Mark from a kickout. Tyrone need McShane or McKenna to become an outlet like this if we want to do well again this year.

When Armagh looked up they weren't afraid to kick it in, however Tyrone were constantly trying to carry the ball which is never going to result in goals against that Armagh defense, hopefully we be a bit more positive as the league progresses and let the ball in more.

First up if a lad is getting a significant portion of his college fees wiped out just to play ball in a handful of matches a year, he'd be stark raving mad to put that in jeopardy. Binding contract or not.

——

But in terms of calendars, where do you draw the line?

I mean if a lad is talented and lucky enough to be part of successful club, county and sigerson teams, then if he won't prioritise those commitments, then short of playing competitions over a two year run, player welfare can't help him. There's just not enough weeks in the year. There's just not.

And if same lad is equally talented and demand in hurling, wtf is Croke Park really meant to do?

Hit the nail on the head

The Friday evenings games seemed to work well especially during those long May/June evenings - It meant that players could enjoy their weekends with families & friends

Going by the county fixture calendar my guess is that its going to be either the beginning or mid May ACL start.  There are 7 teams in intermediate with Co representation (Aghayaran, Clogher, Edendork, Eglish, Galbally,Pomeroy, Owen Roes), then 12 Teams with Co representatives in Div 1 with Moy, Omagh & Loughmacrory, Killyclogher only having 1 each with Clonoe, Greencastle, Moortown having none. I wonder will the CCC go for a 6 starred game option this year or will it revert back to the 5? Will we see the reintroduction of pre-season competitions like the Jim Devlin/McGarrity cup? Will we know anything before the end of February?

Worked well for senior players not reserves. Reserve football was a shamble last year. Players trying to get out of work and to a certain location for 6.45, usually required to be there at 6 for w warm up. I know in my own club of few players that had to miss games due to work

I think its been talked to death already but a big improvement in Tyrone would be to play Reserves as stand alone fixture and give them their own route to promotion/relegation like they do in other counties.

Saturday Games at 1 and 3

8)
Could impact on the availability of referees given most youth games fixed for Saturdays

Let the young lads play on Sundays, Keep them off the drink  ;D
