Seems like Galway's injury troubles have returned after a brief clean bill of health. Comer won't play. Finnerty and Kelly might play some part but neither are 100% right. Couple more big players who haven't been able to train this week but they are hopeful they might be able to tog out.

No conundrum; not fit, don't play. His squad is perhaps stronger than even 2022, so make use of it.

Maybe, but Clare flatter to deceive greatly. Definitely behind Cork and Kilkenny in the pecking order and Wexford could stretch them in their next outing also. Never got the hype about them too much, a good number of ordinary players on the team, starting with no. 1.

We had Sweden in our WC qualifying under Vera Pauw and we were more than a match for them home and away. Yes, they are one of top teams in world but we definitely have gone backwards.

Had to laugh at a quote Pauw made recently in an interview with the IT; said she had to instruct her players to keep it as simple as possible, they weren't able to understand anything else.

You might be right. Me I am not sure about it. The thing about it is though Burke didn't have to make the hit. He deliberately laid the man out and left the ref with a decision to make. The ref didn't have the benefit of slow motion replays and after consulting with the linesman Burke was gone.

Galway have indeed been shíte this year, a team on the wane and needing fresh legs to carry the fight which was sadly lacking on Sunday, and in Wexford and in the game against a Kilkenny team shorn of a lot of it's scoring threat.

Burke had no need to do what he did, the ball was gone and whilst I think he did pull out of it a bit himself he can't be surprised that a red was shown considering the directive on head hits that referees are rightly enforcing except I might add the one on John Conlon in Thurles, which to my mind was worse, as Conlan had no chance to brace himself. Ref consults with the Linesman, yellow!

Burke's problem was that at normal speed, it looked bad. Slow it down in a replay however, and you'll see it was chest-to-chest at most, not head-high. Burke himself nearly came off as bad, had he the guile to go down like Whitely he might have gotten away with it.

I would say he's burned a lot of bridges in kk and this is a blot on his cv. Dunno if he will ever manage kk.

That sounds rather harsh. E.g. I would take MOD back over Galway again in the future, regardless of yesterday, and I've a feeling it may happen too. I've said so often, Shefflin may not have realised that Galway were in (need of) more transition when he took over than he thought they were.

Galway weren't playing well all year, yet looked sharp enough in the early stages yesterday. I do think the sending off cost them the game because they looked like they would have built up a substantial lead by half-time otherwise.

No-one who is upwardly mobile in football wants to manage Ireland Nil. We could be like Belgium (in a political sense, definitely not football) who had no government for some time and the civil service ran the country.

No, no, no. You're only allowed say that about Galway. Other teams just face challenges of various severity.

Great! In a direct clash with Galway's away trip to Wexford if I'm correct.

"Get out of jail card" and daylight robbery that I keep seeing being mentioned everywhere suggests luck on Galway's side, not really having that. An absolutely dire performance yes. A great performance by Sligo, absolutely. Their conversion rate was superb

But everything seemed to go against Galway, from the point awarded to Sligo that was 4 foot wide, to some of the first half ref decisions and the 5 missed goal chances obviously. If even one of those chances goes in it's a very different game. Not that it means it's in anyway acceptable to be going into injury time a point behind a D3 side but it does explain a bit of how they got there

Agree with the above on O'Conghaile and McCabe. Like I get they're young but still it's completely inexcusable from management. O'Conghaile hasn't done a single positive thing since R1 of the league and McCabe couldn't even make the u20 side last year. Cunningham and o'Currain have done significantly more than either. You could play O'Flaherty in the forwards either who's in excellent form

Conroy very poor today also, gave away at least 3 passes resulting in a couple of Sligo scores. John Daly could be in major danger of being dropped. Very skillful on the ball and good at picking passes going forwards, but now very incapable of holding the HB line and keeping attacking lines on the outside. HB line in general too porous (as usual) today. This is the first and biggest problem to be addressed.

Awful rubbish. He has no business being anywhere near the water on 11 it's as if he has never played the course before. Too many missed short putts and too many   brain farts. Will probably do the usual and end up with a couple of good rounds to finish in the top 5 after he has played himself out of contention. Defo needs a proper caddy to sort his head out.

Got a complete schooling from Scheffler on course management. That trip to see Butch in Vegas doesn't appear to have improved much.
