Captain Obvious

Watched Breakdown for the first time in years the other day. Good movie nearly 30 years old and hasn't aged. J. T. Walsh was very good in it and he died aged 54 a year later.

Obsession and The Backrooms are essential viewing. Obsession better for me, incredible lead actress.

Both films made by young youtubers.

Obsession cost $750k and took $430M

[Focus features bought distribution rights for $15M & made $120M minimum. Nice deal!]

Backrooms made by a 20yo with $10M from A24 has made $370M.

Just after watching Tequila Sunrise the other day with Walsh in it too.

Odyssey was great. Really good adaptation. Nearly 3hrs long but didn't seem like it which is a good sign

Enjoyed it as well but it's definitely too long. Worth seeing in IMAX or LieMAX if you can. The sound is incredible. Some of the set pieces are breathtaking.

Near 3 hour advert encouraging men to go to therapy.

I'm not even sure the black north has an IMAX! Omniplex Maxx probably closest we have.

Ironically the only Imax screen in the north is in what was formally know as the Oddessey complex in east Belfast.

If ever an area needed adult males to get therapy...
Never underestimate the power of complaining

It was everything you'd expect from a Nolan film great acting, great storytelling and the film looks and sounds amazing.

Went on Friday evening to the Maxx and really enjoyed it. 3 hours was probably a bit self indulgent 2.5 hrs would  have been plenty.

Apart from that it's well worth a watch!!

Thoroughly enjoyed The Odyssey. I'd no problem with the runtime. There was a lot to pack in, and was happy enough with some bits of the story that were cast aside.

The cast and performances are top class. The sets are unreal too.

It's a while from I saw a cinema as full.

Some of the rumours around casting turned out not to be true. I'd little concern about these either way. Nolan does it again. Great show

Big time. Summer blockbusters aren't what they used to be.

Agreed it had got good reviews so I watched it but it is a big steaming pile of turd.

Disclosure day was also poor

Obsession was probably the best of a bad lot that I saw this week and it wasn't great either ;D

What bit of the story could you cut though?

I enjoyed it, it's definitely a cinema screen movie, so get along.
