Capt Pat

These rules they have broken were just put in place by the premier league elite to protect their position from new money like Manchester city. Not the worst sins in the world.

Can't mind where I heard it but some team was so far behind city in 3rd that they prioritized Europe over the league. They weren't too far off 2nd or at least defo would not have given up on the title, had city not been away & clear.

Definitely strip city of their titles but don't think they should be given out to 2nd place.

Wonder what happened with FA, league cups. They aren't ruled by the premier league

Would there be any sense of me being right (unlikely), in suggesting that as football is corrupt from top to bottom, that the FA, UEFA, FiFA and co should just get out of the way and let billionaires (real or otherwise) spend their money whatever the f**k way they like?

For I think it might be the only legitimate way to level the playing field i.e. if it's not possible to cheat, then nobody is cheating.

Kind of how I feel about drugs in the Olympics too by the way. There's too much importance in knowing which line not to cross, at the wrong time.

No one held a gun to City's head and made them take part in the league. Rules are rules, and everyone is supposed to play by them.

If the tiles ae stripped they hqve to be awarded to sonebody, Null and void look worse. What way it work with Juventus yrs ago.

Captain Scarlet

I would be inclined to leave it as Void  for a couple of reasons. Firstly so it is there as a permanent reminder of the Cheating fcks but secondly because there are different outcomes depending on how you account for City's involvement. For example would Teams have done things differently if City were not 10 points clear with 4 games to go in terms of focus etc? I dont think its as simple as saying that Klopp's Liverpool were 2nd so you just strike out City and make them champions. Do you just remove them from the table or remove their results against teams because they are not the same thing.

Can they award it to the next placed team without bumping everyone up a place as it could open the floodgates to legal cases for teams who missed out on PL payments for finishing in a lower position, missing out on CL places etc. They'll have to strip them but not award them elsewhere to avoid an even bigger shitshow.

There is no fair way to remove City from previous seasons.

Would it really be more logical to "move everyone up one place", than it would be to remove all of City'a results for that season and rebuild the table accordingly? Of course not.

But more importantly.

1. Those seasons when City won the league at a canter, and especially those when there was little or no jeopardy for CL placings. Does the team that finish second in those seasons really deserve a title? No they don't. Finishing 2nd or 4th in that scenario is irrelevant.

2. This cup finals City won. Do their opponents in the final really deserve a trophy for being fortuitous enough to avoid City throughout the earlier rounds? No they don't.

Flip side. What about a Liverpool team that took that city team to the absolute limits twice in the league, a team that was found to be cheating, what do they deserve?

That's the awkward part to resolve no doubt.

But it still requires a dose of (albeit much less) "if my aunt had balls, she'd be uncle". For it's not as likely Scouse would have commandeered such a points total, had they not faced the pressure put on them by City.

What's done is done. Yes X could have won the league  had they not cheated  etc...

Going forward , City need severely punished.

Put them away  to at least league 2, so that's minimum 3 seasons  away from  big money and  their team will no doubt  all leave. No way Haalnd will stick around for 3 seasons  in the lower leagues. So essentially they are starting again, new players, probably new manager ,  and no doubt suffering from lack of CL /PL money and TV money

Whilst I don't disagree, in short they've fucked it up in so many different ways. Made a mockery of the whole thing

Tdf wall of fame sits empty for 7yrs due to lance the premiership will now have a similar set of results

Now we have sponsors threatening to get involved, one of the city owners has diplomatic immunity which may complicate things. Goes way beyond football now

Games gone

Juventus season 04/5 was null and void, 2005/06 title was awarded to Inter.
