One of the lowest quality Manchester Derbies I've ever watched. All the red card did in the end was probably prevented a bigger margin of defeat for the home side.

On saying that it's since confirmed the games only goal should not have stood.

It's not as if they hadn't previous experience of going a man up early doors at OT and still managed to get beat 0-1.

Poor decisions for the red (which is probably a red in the modern era) but the assist king Bruno should have got a red for his wee kick at a player prone on the ground.

As for the goal, the feckin rules are so complicated now that even the referee and VAR made a balls of it.

The linesman flagged it for offside straight away and he was later overruled.

As one journalist said yesterday "the ones where VAR step in to make a correct decision incorrect are the most difficult to justify"

A one second look at the replay for me was all it took, Enzo moved from an off side position to the ball bringing Martinez with him to cover the movement - easy off side call

I've given up on VAR. Comes into the conversation more when there's a big game on but looking at some of the lesser games last season, some of their actions, or more appropriately inactions are truly shocking at times.

UEFA seem to have managed it a bit better in CL.
