Look-Up!

Congratulations Wicklow. Monster second half.

Won't be a ref locked in a boot all week.....

Despite the black card

Brilliant win for Wicklow. This is what the Talteann Cup is about, you could see how much it meant to them. There haven't been many days like this for Wicklow, an all Ireland B championship in 1992 is about it. And they fully deserve the win today.

There will be a big celebration in Wicklow tonight. The players will be treated as returning heroes. It wouldn't have been anywhere near if Down had won.

I'd be getting the 3 inside men off. Louth liable to get ratty and the last thing Mayo want is injuries to those boys.

Well done Wicklow you deserved it.enjoy the celebrations. As a Down man im not overly suprised that we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Its why we are in the TC. And id say we will be in it for another few years.

Is that Laverty for good? Just about beat wexford in the Div 3 league final. Got beat by Wicklow, Great performance v Donegal, beat senseless by Armagh. Will they improve any more nxt year?

In hindsight probably right.

He had that gut punched look about him again, similar to after the Armagh game, I dunno how many of those a manager and a team can stomach.

Today was worse. Armagh was a beating from the start.

Today was a bad beating, after being well in control, after half-time. A high to a very bad low.

A serious collapse.

Down were 10 up against Fermanagh in the semi final, and just hung on. Wicklow were 12 or 13 behind against Offaly and won. I think it was similar in the quarter final game too.

Yeah I don't think you can compare the two beatings given where both teams are in the overall standings.

The team that wanted it most won and fair play to Wicklow. Well deserved celebrations I'm sure.
As a Down fan fairly gutting but not surprising, given past final appearances. Some very poor decision making and terrible shooting.
One thing I always hate seeing be it u12 or Senior,  is a player losing the ball and putting his hands on his hips and not chasing back. Seen it a few times yesterday with Down players.
As for Lavery, you can only coach/ manage the talent you have. He himself can't kick simple points from 21 yds.

Incredible comeback by Wicklow after a disastrous first half. This game highlighted the benefit of the Tailteann Cup and the new rules as such a comeback would hardly be possible without 2 pointers.

I was very impressed with Wicklows attacking play and their willingness to take on their markers, you will be hard pressed to see a better goal than theirs this season. Credit to McConville who has done a superb job with them, I thought their No.14 Kevin Quinn was excellent. Well done Wicklow.

Are Fermanagh the last county now never to have won a senior title?

statto

Wicklow deserving winners. Hard to know where Laverty goes from here, he seemed in complete shock in interview after game. Wicklow able to restrict Havern, Murdock, Guinness and Eamon Brown to 1-04 went along way to helping them get over line.
