He said: "I think there is a sense that this is somehow different. It's a sporting event like no other involving an athlete like no other.

"It is, I think, by all accounts, going to be one of those national moments."

Ah jes, yer mans a balloon, they're trying to recreate Italia 90 energy

You could sell out Croke for The Corrs ffs

Fair play to Katie for sending that insta message to Eddie Hearn and fair play to Eddie for playing the Oirish like a fiddle
He has pissed off every sport, which means he is either very good or very bad at his job.

I can see a commercial argument here, although buying it second hand seems messy, but there is a limited public service argument as it's already on tv.

But regardless, his priorities are a mess. No money to show, say, Shels v Ajax, which like it or not would attract a huge audience, but can show Celtic v Lask. The last Irish club game in Europe RTE showed was Rovers v Milan. In 2020.
I'll take your word for it.
Did you see Shels v Ajax or vice versa on RTE? The games were both on Dutch tv, they just needed to buy the feed (or sell the Dublin leg feed to the Dutch).

There is no way even RTE could have lost money on it.

They also had the Rovers CL rights. Zero additional cost.

Lets not get lost in a soccer tv thing. My point is RTE sport are a shambles. Lots of stuff not getting shown anymore because of costs, but they found the budget to show this. And bought from DAZN instead of the promoter, so at a huge premium.
