Mind any attempt in training when stipulations where put in that after 2 hand passes needed to be a kick. Resulted in 2 yard kick passes - Will be the same in matches I'd say.

This is madness.

The game has improved with the new rules but there are a lot of problems that need ironing out around 2 point frees, interpretation of breaches, ignoring 4 step rule, mandatory fouling of man who catches kickout and the general immensely difficult job refs have now. None of the trial stuff proposed by McStay (who picked him????) addresses those problems - in fact they clearly will make things worse.

Very unfair on college teams trying to prepare for Sigerson. They have limited time with their players, especially those on county squads, and not their leagues are turned into a farce.

We seriously need to stop running the GAA for the media and barstool fan.

It would be a good thing if those  involved could recognise that handpassing itself is not an issue. Uncontested ball retention is the blight. So I'm happy to see how a back court rule might work.

Fully agree with Seanie that ironing out / firming up some of the new rules is more important. I'm not sure anyone on earth can state with conviction about what should happen when both both teams breach at same time. I'm also not sure if there is a more inconsistently refereed decision than how far the ball is moved when a challenge is made on a man who has fielded a high kickout. As for the forward mark, the only people who know the rule still exists, is about every seventh referee you encounter.

Clarification is the most important next step imho. Not confusion.

Oh and you can shove your 4 point goal up your arse too. After stripping goalkeepers off 90% of their powers, there's simply no need to make pariahs of them at this point.

If it's a 4 point goal there can't be any goals scored with a palm then - if a fist pass point is a low skill item then you can't have it both ways. If you're getting 4 points you should at least have to kick the thing ffs.

I heard a clip from wooly's interview and they were annoyed that the world saw a fisted point to finish the all ireland this year - a pass and palm into the net would have looked every bit as bad

Neither looked bad imo. The fisted point was after brilliant play.
If a man has time and space close enough to goal to fist a point or palm a goal the defending team need to be looking at themselves.

Can we all agree he's one annoying attention seeking gobshite.

Wildweasel74

Only real rule i revisit is the end of game hooter, i keep it to the last play like the year b4.

Duine Inteacht Eile

The end of the handpassed point is a massive positive.

Would be if it happens.

If a defending team  are literally looking at themselves, no wonder they're  conceding   fisted points and goals . Like Harry Maguire  last week , marking his own man.

If u coming in at a tight angle, u go for a fisted point, been like this forever. Big song and dance because Armagh take fisted points from central positions, i dont see the issue with it, score a score. They been f**king around with rules 2/3 years now but still wouldnt sort out men feigning injury etc, man down with a head injury, he takes a 10min assessment off pitch. The rest of the rules keep as is. Game getting impossible to follow, when not watching on tv.

agree with this. Social Media "personalities" bleating on about the fisted point doesnt help either
