A strange season has almost reached it's conclusion. Looking back you could say the neighbours almost copied each other.

Champions league group stage knock outs.
Eliminated in the same round of the Europa league.
Early FA cup exits.
Both failed to reach the league cup final.
In the league both have the same amount of wins, draws, defeats & points

It's looks like City will win it now on goal difference & as SLIGONIAN said above you couldn't begrudge them after waiting 44yrs for the title but as the saying goes.. there's a thin line between success and failure

It's always seems a thin line when it's you first title in a long time. The thinnest of lines has surely to be Arsenals late second goal to win the title at Anfield in 1989. They won the title on Goals scored.
Indeed i watched that game live on ITV was a unreal way to win a title probably will never be matched.
Was surpassed today. Liverpool recovered to win the title the following season it's what United need to do now & they are more than capable.

Nah, Liverpool beat West Ham Utd 5-1 in their second last game of the season. This put them three points ahead of Arsenal and 4 goals better on Goal difference. Think of it Arsenal had to go to Anfield, the team in front of them (who were winning leagues year in year for fun) and beat them by two clear goals. They scored their second goal in injury time. In doing so they won the league on goals scored. Both had a goal difference of +37. The winning of the title came down to Arsenal Scoring 8 more goals. Arsenal had not won the league before this since the early 70's!

To my mind inexperience and a bit of bad luck are the reasons why City didn't win the league more comfortably. The fact that they hadn't won the league before contributed to their few bad results away from home.

Along with that the fact they lost Kompany, Tevez and Toure for chunks of the season was bad luck and there is no doubt that missing these lads at various times hindered the team.

All in all though the 2 derby games were prime examples of why City won the league. Talk all you want about Scholes and Giggs but they aren't up to it at the top top level anymore and United got over run in MF on too many occasions. A few signings in the summer could help but I think City will still be too strong for a year yet. The EPL trophy has found its rightful home today. City abu!

I hope you're in good Kompany. I can imagine this is a difficult time for United fans. Don't take it to Hart. Yaya gotta keep your head up. It wont be De Jong before you're smiling again. Look for the Silva lining. It may sound a bit Clichy but you'll be okay.

Yaya we have heard all your taylor made windups before, when are ya Gunner stop? Don't Kidd around. Next you'll be telling them to build a Bridge and get over it. Your some Savic.
Time to take a more chill-pill approach to life.

United are gonna win this league from bad decisions from refs and cheating from Young.

Number 20 still looking good. League tables do not lie.

Looks like squeaky bum time is over for another year. And the thing is that Man City now have players and Management experienced in winning the Premier League. They know what it takes and are (for the moment) no longer choakers.

Unbelievable Jeff.
Delighted for Evra.
how sad is it that a team that finished 37pts behind should try to gloat at a team that lost it on goal difference. hard luck utd.

In fairness Evra looks a gloat. Remember old trafford? Let him have his fill of it.

I agree. Evra made a pratt of himself that day, good enough for him!

So unlike united to choke with a 8 point lead.Mancini won the mind games this time.when fergie upped the pressure on keegan in the 95/96 season with his mind games everyone laughed at keegan, now its the other way around.he must be going soft

For a Celtic fan & general Premier League hater... you spend a lot of time posting on this thread in particular! Scottish football getting the better of you? Gary hooper (former Scunthorpe super star) not taking our fancy after his 5 goals at the weekend?

@VincentKompany: Struggling to remember what happened last night... Woke up with a medal around my neck. Been told the party was deeecent! Lol

NAG1

Not in a worry about yesterday, thought it was going to happen anyway albeit under less dramatic circumstances.

More focused and concerned about how Fergie goes about restructuring the squad over the summer months.

His face doesn't budge. About the only reaction is him briefly lifting his arms. He was disappointingly magnanimous in defeat.

Jones face is hilarious. They really should have gotten Geoff Shreeves to relay the news to them though.
