I remember  having radio 5 live on at the time , start of the new PL  season. Man U v Leicester, 2-2 draw. Beckham equalising in injury time. Strange the things that  stick with you.

Remember the report calling for  any medical people to  come to the hospitals to help with the  injured. First reports was  about 5 or 6 killed. Then as  the day wore on , the death toll  kept mounting.

I had always thought it was Dave Beasant who I thought was a hero and why I wanted to be a goal keeper (Him, Erk Thorstvedt, Southall - before the haydays of Schmeichel, etc..

But I don't think it was. Hell of a cross however. My Bryllcreem stock went mental.

Edit: me auntie Ella bought me Erik Thorstvedt gloves in the now defunct Fairway sports in Omagh in 1989 and I took many a stingers to them fingertips. Worse than Mikasa. But a great memory never the less.
