£1.4 million spent  cleaning up and protecting houses during bonfire season over the last  four years

Madness.

f**king wild.

Whatever about the damage to the environment from needlessly burning wood/tyres/effigys which is bad enough, if you're gonna do it why not feck off somewhere out of the way and do it where you're not causing damage to roads and houses.

Some unionists are even complaining that they're building houses and libraries too close to their bonfires.

Couldn't make it up.

Doubt too many of those boys ever darkened the door of a library to be fair!

The bonfire must be allowed down the traditional route!

QuoteThe court heard that following this the police stopped a vehicle and identified Brian Neill.

The detective told the court that following this, the police found "yellow and foam like gloves".

Neill's defence lawyer told the court that "Mr Neill claims he climbed down the bonfire before the top of the signs were removed".

He told the court that "whilst he saw the signs, he didn't read what was on them".

Didn't read the signs or couldn't read the signs?

He's a local from Moygashel I see.  :o

Poor owl Nolan and his ma on the Sandy Row bonfire!

I expect the Moygashel arrest was spurred by the burned houses in Belfast.

PSNI have to be seen to be doing something. Catholics in North are like boiled frogs, every bonfire should be state regulated and monitored..if we are going to have them.

Anyone found at an illegal one jailed for 2 months. Policing is a joke, it just would not fly anywhere else.

Surprised Sorcha Eastwood was dumb enough to be seen in that light, but then it reminds us the calibre of political reps

It has to be from within, it took the west Belfast festival to radically change that period of summer riots during the interment commemoration, it didn't happen over night.. we need to ignore it, by being outraged, it just fuels it keeps them going, if eventually it's ignored long enough it'll become pointless as it's actual purpose (celebrating the Boyne) becomes meaningless if people ain't bothered

They may evolve, who knows how long
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Stupid move by Sorcha. Has she ever pandered to the other lot by attending a final in Clones?
